who when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: who his ownself bear our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness ; by whose stripes ye were healed. were as sheep going astray ; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of

the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an bireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth ; and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep: The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they sball hear my voice ; and there shall be one mil and one shepherd.
ALMIGHTY God, who she west to them
that be in error the light of thy truth, to the intent that they may return into the way of righteousness; grant unto all them that are admitted into the fellowship of Christ's Religion, that they may shun those things that are contrary to their profession, and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
The Epistle. 1 S. Per. 2.11. EARLY beloved, I beseech you as
strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul ; having your conversation honest among the Gentiles; that whereas they speak against you as evil.doers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether it be to the king, as supren
or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him, for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with welldoing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: as free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness; but as the servants of God. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour
The Gospel. S. John, 16. 16. JES
ESUS said to his disciples, A little while
and ye shall not see me; and again, a little while ye shall see me,
because I the Father. Then said some of his disciples among themselves. What is this that he saith unto us, A little while and ye shall not see me; and again, a little while and ye shall see me; and, because I go to the Father? They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while ? we cannot tell what he saith. Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while and ye shall not see me ;
and again, a little while and
ye shall see me? Verily, verily I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice : and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. A woman when she is in travail, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your hearts shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
The Fourth Sunday after Easter.
ALMIGHTY God, who alone canst
order the unruly wills and affections of sinful men; Grant unto thy people, that they may love the thing which thou commandest, and desire that which thou dost promise ; that so among the sundry and manifold changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed, where true joys are to be found, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Epistle. S. JAMES, 1. 17. VERY good gift, and every perfect
gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath ; for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness, and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the ingrafted Word, which is able to save your souls.
The Gospel. S. JOHN, 16. 5.
my way to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou ? But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth, it is expedient for yoų
that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And
