[Bishop Percy's Road-book, with his autograph on flyleaf, and many entries in his handwriting. In front a list of inns used by the Duke of Northumberland, and at end pedigrees of the Percy family. Apparently Percy held the vicarage of Easton Maudit, concurrently with the Deanery of Carlisle, and took a great deal of trouble, by working out various routes, to discover the "nearest possible ways" between the two places, eventually reducing the distance from 260 to 246 miles. There are several other routes on loose sheets, with remarks characteristic of the difficulties of travelling at this period, and mentioning the necessity for guides on certain roads. -Catalogue.]
