great glory, O Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father Almighty.

[ocr errors]

O Lord, the only begotten Son Jefu Chrift; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, that takeft away the fins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takeft away the fins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takeft away the fins of the world, receive our prayer. Thou that fitteft at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us.

For thou only art holy, thou only art the Lord, thou only, O Chrift, with the Holy Ghoft, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Inftead of the foregoing Hymn, the following with the proper Preface, fhall be faid or fung by the Prieft and People on all Lord's days, and on every day between Eafter and Pentecoft, on Monday and Tuesday in Whitfun-Week, and on Christmas-day. Tis very meet, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto thee, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God.

Here fhall follow the Proper Preface.

Proper Prefaces.

Upon all Lord's days, except the Sunday after Afcenfon-day and Whitfunday, and upon every day between Eafter and Afcenfion-day.

BUT

UT chiefly are we bound to praise thee for the glorious refurrection of thy Son Jefus Christ our Lord: For he is the very Pafchal Lamb, which was offered for us, and hath taken away the fin of the world; who by his death hath destroyed

death,

death, and by his rifing to life again hath restored to us everlasting life. Therefore with Angels, &c.

Upon Afcenfion-day and every day after till White Sunday.

Through thy most dearly beloved Son Jesuš Christ our Lord; who after his moft glorious refurrection manifeftly appeared to all his Apostles, and in their fight afcended up into heaven to prepare a place for us; that where he is, thither we might also afcend, and reign with him in glory. Therefore with Angels, &c.

Upon Whitjunday, and Monday and Tuesday in Whitfun-week.

Hrough Jefus Chrift our Lord; according to whose most true promife, the Holy Ghoft came down as at this time from heaven with a fudden great sound, as it had been a mighty wind, in the likeness of fiery tongues, lighting upon the Apostles, to teach them, and to lead them to all truth, giving both the gift of divers languages, and alfo boldness with fervent zeal conftantly to preach the Gospel unto all nations, whereby we have been brought out of darkness and error into the clear light and true knowledge of thee and of thy Son Jefus Christ. Therefore with Angels, &c.

Upon Christmas-day:

BEcaufe thou didst give Jefus Chrift thine only

Son to be born as at this time for us, who by the operation of the Holy Ghoft was made very Man of the fubftance of the Virgin Mary his Mother, and that without spot of fin, to make us clean from all fin. Therefore with Angels, &c. B 2

ΤΗ

After the Preface shall follow,

Herefore with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify thy glorious name, evermore praifing thee, and faying: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hofts; heaven and earth are full of thy glory: Glory be to thee, O Lord most high. Amen. Hallelujah.

Then fhall be faid or fung the Pfalm following, except on Sundays and every day between Eafter and Pentecoft.

O

[blocks in formation]

God, thou art my God: early will I feek thee.

My foul thirfteth for thee, my flesh also longeth after thee: in a barren and dry land where no water is.

Thus have I looked for thee in holiness: that I

might behold thy power and glory.

For thy loving kindness is better than the life itfelf: my lips shall praise thee.

As long as I live will I magnify thee on this manner and lift up my hands in thy name.

My foul fhall be fatisfied even as it were with marrow and fatnefs: when my mouth praiseth thee with joyful lips.

Have I not remembred thee in my bed and thought upon thee when I was waking?

Because thou haft been my helper: therefore under the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

My foul hangeth upon thee: thy right hand hath upholden me.

These also that feek the hurt of my foul: they fhall go under the earth.

Let

Let them fall upon the edge of the fword: that they may be a portion for foxes.

But the king fhall rejoice in God: all they alfo that swear by him, fhall be commended: for the mouth of them that speak lies, shall be stopped.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghoft;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever fhall be: world without end. Amen.

On all Lord's days, and on every day between Eafter and Pentecoft, instead of the foregoing Pfalm, fhall be fung or faid the following Anthem.

CHrid

Hrift our paffover is facrificed for us: therefore let us keep the feast.

Not with the old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness: but with the unleavened bread of fincerity and truth.

Christ being raised from the dead, dieth no more: death hath no more dominion over him.

For in that he died, he died unto fin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Likewife reckon ye alfo your felves to be dead indeed unto fin: but alive unto God through Jefus Christ our Lord.

Chrift is rifen from the dead: and become the first-fruits of them that flept.

For fince by man came death: by man came alfo the refurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die: even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghoft; Hallelujah:

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shal be; world without end. Amen. Hallelujah.
