ii. The Glory of the Church.

Ps. xlv. 13. The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

Ps. xlviii. 2. Beautiful, for situation, the joy of the whole earth is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the Great King. 12. Walk about Zion, and go round about her; tell the towers thereof: 13. Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces, that ye may tell it to the ge neration following.

Ps. lxxxvii. 3. Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God.

Isa. xlvi. 13. I will bring near my righte. ousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.

Isa. liv. 11. O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundation with sapphires. 12. And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.

Isa. Ix. 1. Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen

upon thee. 2. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. Ver. 13. The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir-tree, the pine-tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious. Ver. 15. Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee; I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations. Ver. 19. The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. 20. Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

Isa. lxii. 2. The Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which. the mouth of the Lord shall name. Ver.3. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

Rev. xxi. 10. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain.

and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11. Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious; even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. See 18-21. Ver. 22. And I saw no temple therein; for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon to shine in it; for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. 24. And the nations of them which are saved, shall walk in the light of it; and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 25. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day; for there shall be no night there. 26. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.

iii. Promises of the Increase of Light and Knowledge, and of the Means of Grace.

Isa. xi. 9. The earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

Isa. xxv. 6. And in this mountain shall the Lord of Hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines

on the lees well refined. Ver. 7. And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

Isa. xxix. 18. In that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. Ver 24. They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding; and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.

Isa. xli. 18. I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. 19. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir-tree, and the pine, and the box-tree together. See chap. xxxv. 6-8.

Isa. lii. 7. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace, that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation, that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth. 8. Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing; for they shall see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion

Isa. liv. 13. And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord.

Dan. xii. 4. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. iv. Promises of Purity, Holiness, and Righteousness in the Church.

Isa. iv. 3. And it shall come to pass. that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy; even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem. 4. When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof, by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

Isa. xxxii. 15. Until the Spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest: 16. Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.

Isa. xxxiii. 5. The Lord is exalted, for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness. 6. And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation the fear of the Lord is his treasure. Isa. xlv. 8. Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness; let the earth open, and let
