THE following Anthems are intended

for the use of the Temple Church. They have been selected from the collections used in the Chapel Royal, Westminster Abbey, York Minster, St. Paul's, Winchester, Durham, and Salisbury Cathedrals, and from those of Marshall and Walmisley. In the part which contains the Anthems of foreign Composers there will be found a greater number of adaptations of Mozart's music than is reconcilable with the writer's opinion, that the works of that eminent Composer are not always of the character which ought to distinguish compositions performed as part of our Church Service.
