PSALM LXXXI. 1—4.

Two Trebles.

Alto, Tenor, and Bass.

CHILD.

ING we merrily unto God our strength: make a cheerful noise unto the God of Jacob.

Alto and Tenor. -Take the psalm, bring hither the tabret: the merry harp with the lute. Sing we merrily, &c.

Blow up the trumpet in the new moon: even in the time appointed, and upon our solemn feast-day.

Solo, Alto.-For this was made a statute for Israel and a law of the God of Jacob. Sing we merrily, &c.

HE Lord hear thee in the day of trouble: the name of the God of Jacob defend

PSALM XXII. 1—3.

Y God, my God, look upon me; why hast thou forsaken me: and art so far from my health, and from the words of my complaint?

O my God, I cry unto thee in the daytime, and thou hearest not: and in the night-season also I take no rest.

And thou continuest holy: O thou worship of Israel.

PSALM XXV. 15-19.

URN thee unto me, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: for I am desolate and in

misery.

The sorrows of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my troubles.

Look upon my adversity and misery and forgive me all my sin.

Consider mine enemies, how many they are: and they bear a tyrannous hate against me. O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be confounded, for I have put my trust in thee. Consider, &c.

ISAIAH, XXXVIII. 10, 20, 18, 19. SAID, in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years:

But the Lord was ready to save me therefore will I sing my song to the stringed instruments all the days of my life.

Hallelujah.

The grave cannot praise thee, O God! death cannot celebrate thee: they that go down to the pit cannot hope for thy truth.

But the living, the living shall praise thee, as I do this day. Hallelujah.

PSALM LXIX. 1, 3, 7, 10, 13, 14.

AVE me, O God: for the waters are come
in, even unto
my soul.

I am weary of crying; my throat is dry: my sight faileth me for waiting so long upon my God.

Full.-And why? for thy sake have I suf fered reproof: shame hath covered my face.

Verse. I wept and chastened myself with fasting and that was turned to my reproof. Full.-But, Lord, I make my prayer unto thee in an acceptable time.

Hear me, O God, in the multitude of thy mercy even in the truth of thy salvation.

GOD, wherefore art thou absent from so long: (Verse. Two Trebles, Two Altos, Tenor, Bass.) why is thy wrath so hot against the sheep of thy pasture?

Full. O think upon thy congregation: whom thou hast purchased, and redeemed of old.

DR. ALDRICH, from Palestrina. E have heard with our ears, O Lord, and our fathers have told us of thy mighty works, that thou hast done in the time of old: how thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plant them in; for they got not the land by their own sword; it was not

their own arm that helped them, but it was thy right hand, thine arm, and the light of thy

countenance.

Verse. Four Voices.-Thou art my King, O God; send help unto Jacob.

Chorus.-Through thee will we overthrow our enemies; and in thy name will we tread them down that rise up against us.

PSALM CXVI.

Alto, Tenor, and Bass.

DR. ALDRICH, from Carissimi.

AM well pleased that the Lord hath heard the voice of my prayer: that he hath inclined his ear unto me; therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

Solo, Bass.-The snares of death compassed me round about,

Solo, Tenor.—And the pains of hell gat hold

upon me.

Solo, Alto.-I have found trouble and heaviness, and I did call upon the name of the Lord. O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

Trio.-Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. The Lord preserveth the simple: when I was in misery he delivered me. Turn again then unto thy rest, O my soul, for the Lord hath rewarded thee; for he hath delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, my feet from falling.

Solo, Tenor.-I shall walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

Solo, Bass.-I shall walk, &c.
