EPIPHANY.

LMIGHTY and everlasting God, mercifully look upon our infirmities, and in all our dangers and necessities, stretch forth thy right hand to help and defend us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

JOHN, I. 19-22.

HIS is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

And he confessed and denied not; and said plainly, I am not the Christ.

Chorus. And denied not, and said plainly, I am not the Christ.

Verse. And they asked him, What art thou then? Art thou Elias? and he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? and he answered, No. Chorus.-Art thou the prophet? and he answered, No.

Verse. Then said they unto him, What art thou, that we may give an answer unto them that sent us: What sayest thou of thyself? and he said, I am the voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord. Chorus. And he said, I am the voice, &c.

LORD my God; I will exalt thee, I will

O praise thy name; for thou hast done

amazing things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

Chorus.-For thou hast been a defence to the poor and needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, a shelter against the raging tempest.

Verse, Treble, Alto, and Chorus.-He will swallow up death in victory; God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and he shall vindicate his saints.

Verse, 2 Trebles, Alto, Tenor, and Bass.Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord our God, and we have waited for him, we will rejoice and be glad in his salvation.

Full-Lo this is our God, we have waited for him, and he will save us: we will rejoice. and be glad in his salvation. Amen.

PSALM XXXVIII. 15, 6, 8, 9, 10, 21, 22. N thee, O Lord, have I put my trust thou shalt answer for me, O Lord my God. I am brought into so great trouble and misery that I go mourning all the day long. I am feeble, and sore smitten: I have roared for the very disquietness of my heart.

Lord, thou knowest all my desire and my groaning is not hid from thee.

My heart panteth, my strength hath failed me: and the sight of mine eyes is gone from

me.

Forsake me not, O Lord my God: be not thou far from me.

Haste thee to help me: O Lord God of my

salvation.

ELIVER us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the heathen: that we may give thanks unto thy holy name, and make our boast of thy praise.

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, from everlasting, and world without end: and let all the people say, Amen.

HE Lord is my light and my salvation; whom then shall I fear: the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom then shall I be afraid?

In the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle in the secret place of (Chorus) his dwelling, and set me up upon a rock of stone.

Four Voices.-One thing have I desired: even that I may dwell in the house of the Lord for ever, to behold the fair beauty of the Lord. Nor cast away thy servant in displeasure. Chorus. I should utterly have fainted: but that I see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

IKE as the hart desireth the water brooks, so longeth my soul after thee, O God. Solo, Bass.-My soul is athirst for God, yea, even for the living God; when, O when, shall I come to appear before the presence of God?

Trio, Alto, Tenor, and Bass.-My tears have been my meat day and night, while they daily say unto me, where is now thy God?

Chorus.-Where is now thy God?

Solo, Tenor.-Now, when I think thereupon, pour out my heart by myself; for I went with the multitude, and brought them forth into the house of God; in the voice of praise and thanksgiving, among such as keep holy day.

Solo, Bass.-Why art thou so full of heaviness, O my soul, and why art thou so disquieted within me?

Verse, Four Voices, and Chorus.-O put thy trust in God, for I will yet give him thanks for the help of his countenance.
