Some. far in a profeffion, yet are out of
the way. Not uncharitable to affirm unbe-
lievers fhall be damned. Some think evi-
dences are not to be fought. This a mif-
taken opinion. Evidences spoken of in the
word. A renewed heart will produce a re-
formed life, not the contrary. A renewed
heart aims at the promotion of God's glory.
A believers confidence is folely in Chrift.
Feeling's not faith. A habit of faith may be

DIALOGU E VI.
Theologos a stranger, waits
a ftranger, waits upon Philoxenus.
The prevailing neglect of the Lord's-Sup-
per lamented. Theologos affigns a fuppofed
reafon. Amyntas admits it not. Theologos
defines the Lord's-Supper. His definition
not difficult to be understood. Theologos
reads the form of the inftitution. The or-
dinance facred and important. The nature
of it cannot be underfood by the bare words
of the inftitution. The apoftles understood
not the nature of the fupper from its infti-
tution. The partaking of the facrament is
more than a declaration of a man's being a
chriftian. To eat the paffover a man muft
first be circumcifed. None admitted to bap-

tism without a confeffion of faith. Believ-
ers only have a right to the table of the
Lord. Not wife, but holy men are candi-
dates for heaven. Preparation for the Lord's
Supper not abfurd. Chrift spoken of in
higher terms than a teacher fent from God.
More important opinions held forth in the
ordinance. No event equal to the death of
Chrift. Not enthufiaftical to expect an in-
crease of faith, &c. in celebrating this or-
dinance. None knows Chrift but believers.
According to Theologos's definition, Calvin
and Socinus may alike commemorate Christ.
An honeft man fhould not equivocate. Dif-
fenters who difavow the opinion of Theolo-
gos. The divinity of Chrift, &c. not a fpe-
culative point. The opinion of Paul dam-
nable. The orthodox not the perfecutors.
Theologos no notion of faith. Love is the
motive from which believers act. The or-
thodox scheme expofed. Vindicated. Or-
thodoxy doth not elate the heart, but the
contrary. An obfcurity in the words of
Theologos. The love of God moft manifest
in the orthodox fyftem. Orthodoxy agreea-
ble to the word. Orthodoxy has a tendency
to promote good works. No force put on
the human will. Rectitude of nature de-
nied. An uncharitable charge againft the
orthodox. That all would read their bibles.
Strong expectations tend to fatisfy them-
felves. The cafe of Theologos. Advice to
him. The preaching of Chrift crucified
most effectual.
