Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I

unto you.

Prayers.

O LORD, we beseech Thee, because the frailty of man without Thee cannot but fall, keep us ever by Thy help from all things hurtful, and lead us to all things profitable to our salvation, through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

O ALMIGHTY God, whom truly to know is everlasting life, grant us perfectly to know Thy Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life; and give unto us that peace, which the world cannot give; through the merits of the same Jesus Christ our Saviour. AMEN.

THE CONSOLATION AND MUTUAL LOVE BETWEEN CHRIST AND HIS MEMBERS, UNDER THE PARABLE OF THE VINE: THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY GHOST: CHRIST PRAYETH TO HIS FATHER.

ST. JOHN XV. xvi. xvii.

I AM the true Vine, and My Father is the husbandman. I am the Vine, ye are the branches he that abideth in Me, and I in Him, the same bringeth forth much fruit for without Me ye can do nothing.

:

It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.

These words spake Jesus, and lifted up His eyes to Heaven, and said,

Father, the hour is come; glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee!

Prayer.

O ALMIGHTY God, who hast knit together Thine elect in one communion and fellowship, in the mystical body of Thy Son Christ our Lord I humbly beseech Thee, so to assist me with Thy grace, that I may continue in that holy fellowship, and do all such good works as Thou hast prepared for us to walk in; by the comfort of the Holy Ghost, and to the glory of Thy Name, through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Midnight.

CHRIST PRAYETH IN THE GARDEN: SWEATETH BLOOD.

ST. MATT. xxvi. 36-39. ST. MARK xiv. 32-36. ST. LUKE Xxii. 39-44.

THEN cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane: and He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith He unto them,

My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with Me.

And He went a little farther, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying,

O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt.

And there appeared an angel unto Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in an agony He prayed more earnestly; and His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Prayers.

GRANT, O Lord, that in all the sorrows and trials of earth I may cheerfully submit myself to Thy fatherly disposal, and learn to say from the heart, Not my will but Thine be done; after the example, and for the sake of Jesus Christ, our most blessed Lord and Saviour. AMEN.

O EVERLASTING God, Who hast ordained and constituted the services of angels and men in a wonderful order; Mercifully grant, that as Thy holy angels alway do
