The millet has the following advantages; cost of seed $6.34 less; 174 pounds more of digestible nutrients, which at the liberal price of 3 cents per pound, would be $5.22; and a smaller labor cost for harvesting and curing, probably not over $3.00 less than for the soybeans. The total of these advantages is $14.56 or less than one-half the estimated value of the nitrogen taken from the air by the soybeans. It would seem that soybeans should be given serious consideration in choosing a summer annual hay crop. |
