To the Honorable Legislature of the State of Michigan: In obedience to the requirements of law, the undersigned respectfully submit the following Report, showing the proceed ings of the Board of State Auditors for the fiscal year ending the 30th day of November, A. D. 1862.

Annual Settlement with the State Treasurer.

The Board of State Auditors, for the purpose of making an annual settlement with the State Treasurer, met at the office of the Secretary of State on the 7th day of January, 1862. Present: Hon. James B. Porter, Secretary of State, Hon. Langford G. Berry, Auditor General, and Hon. Samuel S. Lacey, Commissioner of the Land Office.

The Hon. John Owen, State Treasurer, having exhibited his account current with the State of Michigan, and the same having been compared by this Board, with the books of the Auditor General, we find that during the fiscal year ending on the 30th day of November, 1861, the State Treasurer has received into the Treasury the sum of one million two hundred thirty thousand one dollars and seventeen cents, and that during that

time he has disbursed one million two hundred fifty-eight thousand two hundred and thirty-five dollars and seventy cents, showing the Treasury overdrawn by the sum of twenty-eight thousand three hund.ed and thirty-four dollars fifty-three cents. JAMES B. PORTER,
