Bevans macht Fensterzargen und Schiebefenster nach einer völlig neuen Methode, so daß die Gewichte leinen an der Seite nicht zum Vorschein kommen, und daß keine Zugluft Statt haben kann. Diese Erfindung ist auch auf die gewöhnlichen englischen Schiebefenster anwendbar.

Blunt hat eine Vorrichtung erfunden, die sich an allen Steigbügeln anbringen läßt, und deren Absicht ist, zu verhindern, daß ein herabfallender Reuter nicht vom Pferde geschleift werden kann, indem der Steigbügel in einer umgekehrten Richtung sich gleich vom Steigries

men trennt.

Miller hat Verbesserungen an einer Vorrichtung gemacht, welche für Kutschen und andre Wagen paßt und zur Bequemlichkeit der Reisenden dienet.

Stevens erzeugt Dampf auf eine ganz neue Art.

Brodie hat eine neue Methode erfunden, sowohl die Kessel der Dampfmaschinen und andre Dampfkessel, als auch die Röhren, wodurch sie die Hiße erhalten, ders gestalt zu verfertigen, daß man dabey viel Kohlen erspart.

Carolus Linnæus in his Lapland dress. Hoffmann p. Kingsbury sculps. Dieses Bildniß eines der grösten Männer wird sehr gelobt und gekauft.

Die Herren Boydell haben ein Supplement zu den großen Kupfern der Ausgabe des Shakespeare geliefert, wodurch dieses Werk geschlossen wird. Diese lehte Nums mer enthält: 1. den Sommernachtstraum, gemahlt von Fücßli, gestochen von Ryder. 2. Die Taufe der Königinn Elisabeth, gemahlt von Peters, gestochen von Cobyn. 3. Imogen tritt in die Höhle, gemahlt von Westall, gestochen von Gaugain. 4. Desdemona im Bette, gemahlt von Boydell, gestochen von Leney. 5. Shakespeare erhält Nahrung von der Tragödie und Comödie, gemahlt von Romney, gestochen von B. Smith. Außerdem enthält diese Nummer Bildnisse des Königs und der Königinn, die Titelblätter, die Zueignungen, die Vorrede 2. Die letztere ist sehr interessant. Dieses große Nationalwerk hat den Herrn Boydells viel über hundert tausend Pfund Sterling gekostet.
