VERY RARE. Only a few copies privately printed. This is the work in which Byron's grandson endeavored to prove by documentary evidence the frightful charges made by Lady Byron with respect to the real reasons for her separation from the poet. The work is indispensable to any collection of Byroniana. Laid in are 2 A. L.'s S. of M. C. Lovelace (Lady Lovelace), and 2 A. L.'s S. of Sydney C. Cockerell, relating to the work.

AN EXCESSIVELY RARE PIECE, consisting of two Poems only: "Lochiel's Warning" and "Hohenlinden.'' These two Poems were dedicated to the Rev. Archibald Allison. On the verso of title is the following inscription "with kindest wishes from the Author.” The recipient's name has been cut out, and title neatly repaired.

This rare piece was unknown to Lowndes, nor was it known to Sharp. In a MS. note by Mr. Forman on a fly-leaf, he says "I never saw another copy. The words on the verso of the title-page are in the poet's writing. The full-face portrait is a proof of the frontispiece to the Aldine Campbell. The profile belongs to the 'Authors of England.'''

A HANDSOME COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION of this translation by Dr. G. F. Mott, of which Mr. Forman remarks in a note: "This beautifully bound copy is not half a bad thing for a D.D. to have done. Seems to me to be LARGE PAPER.

The frontispieces are by Blake, and the binding a splendid specimen of the period.

FIRST EDITION, with the half-title. This poem met with much critical approval. It is interesting as containing a remarkable confession of remorse for private sin. Churchill had seduced the daughter of a stonecutter, his immorality was not incompatible with generosity and manliness, for he protected her till her death.
