Note. - The Returns in the foregoing Table, up to the year 1847, are not very complete, but since that period they have been sufficiently so to
establish data by which to compare our yearly progress in Educational matters. The Returns are now pretty extensive and embrace all Institutions of
rather private than official, which should not be the case.
