ons, always taking care to have some striking paffage of fcripture in each of them, which might have fome lafting impreffion on the mind. The following letters, which have not been hitherto print

ed, will certainly be of publick utility. And those peculiar ftrains of piety, and that elegance of ftile, which diftinguish the other works of Mr. HERVEY, are fo plainly discoverable in these, that no reader will, in the leaft, doubt of their being genuine.
