Rennell trägt an seinem Körper viele ehrenvolle Narben aus seiner Jugend her.

In den Transactions of the Royal Irish Academy Vol. VIII. ist ein sehr heftiger Angriff in einer Abhandlung auf die neuere deutsche Literatur gemacht worden, welche folgenden Ti-" tel hat: Reflections on the peculiarities of style and manner in the late German writers whose works have appared in English and on the tendency of their productions by W. Preston Esq M. R. I. A. Der Verf. las diesen Auffaz schon 1800. vor, da Barrúels Verläumdungen noch durch keinen Mounier widerlegt waren. Die deutsche Tragodie und Romanze unterscheidet sich, ihm zufolge, by a som-. bre gloom, a love of terror, an affectation of the horrible.

Von den Räubern sagt er: what is it but the beggars opera tragedized and amplified with a little sprinkling of imitation from Fielding and Shakspeare?
