Morning Prayer

Daily throughout the Year. The beginning of Morning Prayer, the Minifter fhall read with a loud voice fome one or more of the Sentences which are taken Word for Word out of the Holy Scriptures, after which follows this Exhortation.

fefs them with an humble, lowly, penitent, and obedient heart, to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the fame by his infinite good nefs and mercy, Pf. 10. 17. and Pfal. 34. 18. Joel 2. 12. 13. And altho' we ought at all times humbly to acknowledge our fins before God, 1 Tim. 2. 8. yet ought we moft chiefly fo to do when we affemble and meet together, Levit. 4. 14: to render thanks for the great benefits that we have received at his hands, Pfal. 68. 19. to fet forth his moft worthy praife, Pfal.50.23.to hear his most holy Word, Heb. 3.7. Rom. 10. 17. and to ask those things which are requifite and neceffary as well for the body as the foul, Matt. 6. 11, 12. and 7. 7, 8. Jam. 4. 2. 3. Wherefore I pray and befeech you, as many as are here prefent, to accompany me with a pure heart, and humble voice, Cor. 4. 16. 2 Cor. 2. 8. and 5. 29. unto the throne of the heavenly Grace, faying after me, Heb. 4. 16.

We have followed too much the devices and defires of our own hearts, Heb. 3 10. Gen. 6. 5. We have offended against thy holy laws, Acts 7.53. Dan. 9. 9, 10. Fam. 2. 10. and 3. 2. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done thefe things which we ought not to have done, Rom. 7. 15, 19. And there is no health in us, Ifa. 1. S 56 6. But thou O Lord, have mercy upon us miferable offenders, Luke: 18. 13. Pfal. 51 Spare thou them, O God, which confefs their faults, Joel 2.17. John 20. 23. 2 Cor. 5. 19. he pardoneth and abfolveth all them that truly repent and unfeignedly believe his Holy Gospel. Acts 10. 43. Luke 24. 47. Acts 3. 19. Rom. 1. 16. Wherefore let us befeech him to grant us true repentance, and his holy Spirit, 2 Tim. 2. 25. Acts 11.-18. Luke 11. 13. that those things may please him which we do at this prefent, Heb. 11. 6. Rom. 8. 8. and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy, Ephef. 1. 4. John 5. 14. Rom. 6. 6. fo that at the laft we may come to his eternal joy, Heb. 12. 14. Matt. 5. 8. through Jefus Chrift our Lord, Rom. 5. 21. and 6. 23.

The People fhall answer here, and at the end of all other Prayers, Amen. Nehem. 5. 13. 1 Chron. 16. 36. 1 Cor. 14. 16.
