v. 20.

And we know that the Son of God is and hath given us an understanding, that we revealed by may know Him that is true: and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Jesus

Christ.

The word of God is true and faithful.

For the word of the Lord is right: and all
His works are done in truth.

Ps.

xxxiii. 4.

10.

For the mountains shall depart, and the Is. liv. hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of My peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.

His word As for God, His way is perfect: the word Ps.xviii never fails. of the Lord is tried: He is a buckler to all

those that trust in Him.

For I am the Lord: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word and will perform it, saith the Lord God. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Matt. words shall not away.

The works of His hands are verity and judgment: all His commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever, and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.

Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will
He be favourable no more? Is His mercy
clean
gone for ever? doth His promise fail
for evermore?

Ps.

7, 8.

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look Is. li. 6. upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but My salvation shall be for ever, and My righteousness shall not be abolished.

For the Lord will not cast off His people, neither will He forsake His inheritance. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of My hands: thy walls are continually before Me.

He hath remembered His mercy and His truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends xcviii.3 of the earth have seen the salvation of our

The Lord is not slack concerning His pro- 2 Pet. mise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

For all the promises of God in Him are 2 Cor. yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God i. 20. by us.

THE TRUTH AND FAITHFULNESS OF GOD.

Man's unbelief cannot affect God.

God's

fidelity a reason of trust.

For what if some did not believe? shall
their unbelief make the faith of God without
effect?

If we believe not, yet He abideth faithful:
He cannot deny Himself.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for He is faithful that promised.

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations. Justice and judgment are the habitation of Thy throne; mercy and truth shall go before Thy face.

God is
Good.

The Lord is good.

His goodness is great.

There is none good but one, that is, God. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all gene

rations.

Many, O Lord my God, are Thy wonderful works which Thou hast done, and Thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto Thee if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

Ps.

How precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! cxxxix If I should count them, they are more in 17, 18 number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with Thee.
