From above statement it appears that insurance companies of all descriptions doing business in this Territory during the year 1900 received the sum of $577,039.66 in premiums, the amount of losses and claims paid amounting to $186,836.71, making a ratio of losses paid to premiums received of 32.37 per cent. By comparing this ratio with the reports of insurance commissioners of other States. I find that this ratio is on an average of 10 per cent lower than that of other States, thereby proving that this Territory is a very profitable field for insurance companies.
