Whep thus thou fhalt thy fields prepare,
Thy lib'ral band will never spare
To fow thy corns o'er all abroad;
For fields and corns are both of. God.

10 The ridges water'd lib'rally, but II A
And furrows which compofed lie,
He maketh foft with gentle fhowirs,,
And on the fpring his bleffing pours
11 He with his goodness crowns the year,
And peace and plenty ciofe the rear
For God's the Author of the crops,
Thy paths upon us fatnefs drop:

12 They drop upon the pastures green,
Where all before had defert been;51
But now the little hills rejoice;
The wilderness is full of joys

13 The paftures all with flocks are clad,"
The vallies too with corn are glad yo
They fhout for joy, they laugh, they fing,
And clap their hands to Christ the King:

Thus, in the future gospel-days,"
When God fhall fill the world with praife,
The Holy Ghoft fhall then be giv'ny s
As floods of water from the heav'n:
The earth, which was a parched heath,
A region dark of fin and death,
-Like Paradife fhall bloom and spring,
And earth to God, like heav'n, fhall fing.

PSALM LXVI.

As the laft. See the margin.

O glory, glory, glory fing

1

Unto the Lord our God alone!
Our God, our Glory is our King!
We'll join the praises of THE SON:

THE SON OF GOD conducts our fong!

He leads us on to heav'nly joy:
Through floods and flames we'll fing along,
And praife shall be our fole employ,

Α

LL lands to God, in joyful founds, Sing forth the honour of his name, Till all the world aloud rebounds,

And glorious make his praife and fame: 3 Say unto God, How terrible

Art thou in all thy works of pow'r?
Thy greatnefs fhall thy foes repel,

Thy terrors fhall thy foes devour.

4 Lo, all the earth fhall worship thee, And thousand worlds to thee fhall fing; Thy name fhall fung and praifed be, O thou Almighty Lord and King. 5 Come, and behold the works of God; How great and terrible are they, Towards the children all abroad

Who dwell in mould'ring tents of clay!

6 He turn'd the liquid into dry,

And thro' the flood they march'd on foot; He made the boift'rous billows fly,

To right and left to guard the rout: There we in him did much rejoice, And Ifra'l fang his Saviour's praise; The fhores, rebounding with our joys, Refponfive rang to Miriam's lays.

7 By his puiffance ruling aye,

His eyes behold the nations ftill: Let no rebellious ftandards play,

Elfe let them dread his pow'r and will.

8 O blefs our God, ye people all,

And make the voice of praife rebound! 9 By him we live, both great and fmall, And tread our foes into the ground.

10 For thou, O God, haft proved us, And melted us to thy defire; t So gold and filver, tried thus,

Are melted in the finer's fire.

II Thou broughteft us into the net;

Thou laidft affliction on our loins; 12 And fquadron'd hofts, in battle fet,

Have o'er us rode, and trode our lines:

Thro' fire and water we have gone ;
But ftill thou didst uphold our march,
And fafe conduct us ev'ry one

Thro' deferts which the drought did parch :
Thou broughteft us to pleasant lands,
Into a wealthy heritage;

13 With off'rings I will fill my hands;
To pay my vows my heart I pledge.

14 My lips have uttered my vows

In anguifh great, my mouth did fay, 15 I'll bring the off'ring thou doft chufe; MYSELF I'll on thine altar lay. 16 Come, hear, all ye who love the Lord,). I will declare what he hath done; Salvation he did me afford;

17

He fav'd my foul when almoft gone:

To him I cried with my mouth;

He was extolled with my tongue : 18 If in my heart there's ought but truth, The Lord will fcorn my pray'r and fong. 19 But verily my God hath heard,

And lent his ear my pray'r to hear; 20 O blefs'd be God who did regard,

Who fav'd his Chrift, his fervant dear He fav'd my foul from death and hell,

And made me heir of all the world: 2 My faints with me in heav'n fhall dwell, When all my foes are downwards hurl'd.

SIMILAR to the last two and the following one; fpoken by the Meffiah, and expreffive of the glory following, and overflowing all the world with everlafting light, joy, and praife, in confequence of his own meritorious, fin-atoning, and deathdeftroying paffion and death, accomplished at Jerufalem without the gates; whither all his people muft follow him, bearing his reproach, and counting it all joy to fuffer for his name.

I

Spread, Spread the joyful news abroad
Let all the world re-echoing ring;
Let all the earth refound to God
The lofty praifes of her King!
The Lord, the witness, is the Fudge:
He judges by the joyful news
His gofpel which his pow'r shall lodge
In hearts of Gentiles, and of Jews.

OD unto us be merciful,

GOD

And blefs us with his fhining face,
That ev'ry pow'r and spirit dull,

The light of love away may chafe. 2 Then fhall thy ways on earth be known, Thy grace among the nations all: 3 Let joy and love to God be shown; Let people praife thee, great and fmall.

4 O let the nations gladly fing;

Let them exalt their voice for joy;
For thou alone art Judge and King,
To judge the nations righteously:
Meffiah ruleth on the earth,

And all the nations own his fway.
5 Let all the world be fill'd with mirth;
Let all the people fing and play.

6 Then shall the earth her increase yield
Of gratitude and praise to God;
For God fhall blefs her like a field,

And with a plenteous harveft load.
Our God fhall blefs us great and small,
And all the earth fhall fear the name
Of Christ our King, the Lord of all:
Let heav'n and earth resound his fame.

A fong of triumph, prophetic and defcriptive of the refurrection, afcenfion, and following glory of the Lord Jefus Chrift; as appears from ver. 18. Thou haft afcended on high; thou hast led captivity captive; thon haft received gifts for men,' &c. interpreted, Ephef. iv. 8. Wherefore he faith, when he afcended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts "unto men,' &c.

Lo, light and glory from the grave
Of Fefus Chrift arifing Spring,
That we might life eternal have,

And mount to heav'n upon his wing :
Afcended he most gloriously,

Triumphing over death and hell;
Receiving gifts from God on high;

That God the Lord with us might dwell!

ILET God arife, and burst the bands

Of death for all his elect race; h

That fo, fubdued by his hands,
His foes may fly before his face:
Let them be fcatter'd far and broad,
And let their honour fwift decay;

In pieces fhiver'd by his rod,
Like veffels made of potter's clay.
