I The Lord of Life, the church's Head, Is the example to her ways: He glory'd in his Father's will, YEA truly, truly, I do wait, O Lord, my God, for only thee:. The foul of poor afflicted me. 2 Thou only my Salvation art, My Rock amidft the raging waves; I'm built on thee, and shall not start, For all the billows ocean heaves. 3 How long will ye devife and plot, Ye fons of men, against the man, Of those who love the holy plan. Or tott'ring rampart giving way. 4 They only plot to caft him down From his excellency and pow'r: But he fhall wear th' eternal crown, When death's grim train fhall them devour. In only lies they do delight; And lies fhall be their refuge then, When thou fhalt, putting them to flight, To their damnation fay, Amen. Their lips they open with a smile, face And bless you, fmirking in your 5 My foul, upon thy God await; My expectation is from him: I fhall not perifh at his gate, Nor, looking long, mine eyes grow dim 6 He only my Salvation is; He is my Rock amid the fea: I laugh and overlook th' abyfs; The boldeft wave cannot move me.. 7 In God my glory is fecure; My fweet Salvation I'll adore: My Rock, my Refuge fhall endure; Q3 8 Ye 8 Ye people, place your confidence For he's our Strength and fure Defence; The great and mighty-what is he? In balance laid, they wholly are 11. Once God hath spoke, and pledg'd his word,, 12 Yea, mercy alfo appertains To thee, O thou almighty God; For thou' directeft all the reins Of judgment, in the world abroad. THIS Pfalm affords a remarkably decifive proof of the divine Speaker, JESUS, not only in itfelt alone, but alfo in all its parallels, which are full four fifths or more of the whole book; many whereof are mentioned in the illuftration to Pfal. ii. The proof referred to is exhibited in these words of the laft verfe, But the King fhall rejoice in God; every one that fweareth by him fhall glory.'-Is not this divine worship afcribed to this King, who is the only speaker in the Pfalm?-So, Deut. vi. 13. it is written, Thou fhalt fear the Lord thy God, As parched land unto the skies, O God, thou art my God indeed, A living ftream of life to me: I never more should feel my woes. 3 Because thy loving-kindness is More precious far than life to me, I'll give thee praise for all my bless; My lips fhall very joyful be. 4 Thus I will biefs thee while I live, In thy fweet name I'll lift my hands, |
