i The reason why the Deacon, and all other inferior Ministers, or thofe that perform the functions of fuch, afk the Prieft's or Bishop's bleffing, before they read any publick Leffon, is, that none are to take upon themfelves to preach or inftru&t, till they are legally deputed and fent. Hence no inferior Clergyman preacbeth or inftrutteth in the preJence of a Bifhop, or Prieft without leave, which is given by a prayer to God for his enabling grace.

After our Father in Secret, the Celebrant says the Confiteor; after which the Quire anfwers:

V. May almighty God be merciful to thee, forgive thee thy fins, and bring thee to life everlafting. R. Amen.

V. Mifereatur tui omnipotens Deus, & dimiffis peccatis tuis, perducat te ad vitam æternam. R. Amen.

Then all fay the Confiteor, as p. xiii. After which' the Celebrant Jays:

V. May almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you your fins, and bring you to life everlafting. R. Amen.

V. May the almighty and merciful Lord grant us pardon, abfolution, and remiffion of our fins. R. Amen.
