In the beginning, O Lord, didft thou create the earth: and the work of thy hands are the hea

vens.

They fhall perish, but thou endureit:* and they all, like a garment, fhall grow old.

And like a cloak fhalt thou change them, and they fhall be changed:* but thou art ftill the fame, and thy years fhall not fail.

The children of thy fervants fhall have a place of abode: * and their feed fhall profper

for ever.

hath brought down to the earth my life. He hath put me in dark fome places, like the dead of old: * the anguifh of my fpirit is too great for me, my heart within me is difmayed.

I called to mind the days of old; I meditated on all thy works: * on the works of thy hands did I muse.

I have stretched forth my hands to thee: * my foul like earth without water is to thee. Quickly hear now, O Lord: * my fpirit faints away.

Turn not away thy face from me: * for I fhall then be like those

who go down into the pit.

Let me early in the morning hear thy mercy for it is in thee I hoped.

Make known to me the way in which I am to walk for to thee have I raifed up my foul.

me to do thy will, because thou art my God.

Thy good Spirit fhall lead me to the righteous land: for thy own name fake, O Lord, wilt thou fave my life according to thy juftice. Thou wilt bring forth from diftrefs my foul: and in thy mercy wilt thou deftroy my enemies. Thou wilt destroy all, who diftrefs my foul: * because I am thy fervant.

Anth. Remember not, O Lord, our offences, nor those of our parents, neither take thou vengeance on our fins.
