How he swore to the Lord and made a vow to the God of Jacob.

I will not enter the inner part of my houfe: * I will not go into the bed whereon I lie.

I will not grant fleep to my eyes:*nor flumber to my eye-lids:

Or reft to my temples: till I find a place for the Lord :*an abode for the God of Jacob.

Behold we heard of it in Ephrata: we have found it in the fields of the foreft.

We will go into his tabernacle: we will adore in the place where his feet have stood a. Arife, O Lord, go to the place of thy abode : thou and thy holy ark. Let thy priests be clothed with righteoufnefs and let thy faints rejoice.

For the fake of David thy fervant,* turn not away the face thy anointed one.

For the Lord hath choten Sion: he hath chofen it for the place of his abode.

This is my abode for ever:here will I abide because I have chofen it. I will plentifully blefs her widow: * I will fill her poor ones with bread.

I will clothe her priests with falvation:*and her holy ones fhall rejoice exceedingly.

There will I fhew the power of David:*I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one.

I will cover his enemies with confufion: * but on him fhall my fanctification flourish.

V. The Lord led the just man through right ways. R. And he fhew ed him the kingdom of God.

Viduam ejus benedicens benedicam : * pauperes ejus faturabo panibus.

Sacerdotes ejus induam falutari : * & fancti ejus exultatione exultabunt.

Illuc producam cornu David: * paravi lucernam Chrifto meo.

Inimicos ejus induam confufione:*fuper ipfum autem efflorebit fanctificatio mea.

V. Juftum deduxit Dominus per vias rectas. R. Et oftendit illi regnum Dei.

e Expl. I will fhew I have chofen him for my holy one, and my arcinting or confecrating him, viz, Chrift, king of the whole world, fhall have it's effect.

Anth. The Lord loved him, and adorned him: he hath clothed him with a robe of glory, and crowned him at the gates of paradife.

In the fecond Vefpers of POPES. Anth. Whilft he was chief Bishop, he feared nothing on earth, but afcended gloriously to the heavenly kingdoms.

Confeffor and Bifhop; and by his interceffion, who worthily ferved thee, deliver us from all our fins. Thro'.

EPISTLE. Heb. vii. 23, 27. BRethren: There were formerly many high priests fucceffively; becaufe, by reafon of death, they were not fuffered to continue. But Jesus, for that

he continueth for ever, hath an everlasting priesthood. Whereby he is able alfo to save for ever them that come to God by him; always living to make interceffion for us. For it was fitting we fhould have fuch an high-priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, feparated from finners, and made higher than the heavens: who needeth not daily, as other priests, to offer facrifices first for his own fins, and then for the people's: for this Jefus our Lord did once in offering himself.

AT that time: Jefus faid to his difciples: Watch ye therefore, because you know not at what hour your Lord will come. But this know ye, that if the mafter of the house knew at what hour the thief would come, he would certainly watch, and would not fuffer his houfe to be broken open. Wherefore be you alfo ready, becaufe, at what hour you know not, the fon of man will come. Who, thinkeft thou, is the faithful and wife fervant, whom the Lord hath fet over his family, to give them meat in due feafon? Bleffed is that fervant, whom, when his Lord fhall come, he fhall find doing fo. Amen, I fay to you, he fhall fet him over all his goods.

AY the annual folemnity, we beseech thee, Lord, of holy N. thy Confeflor and Bifhop, render us acceptable to thy mercy; that, by this facrifice of propitiation, he may both receive a happy reward, and obtain for us the gift of thy mercy. Thro'.

COMMUNION.

Bleffed is the fervant Beatus fervus quem whom the Lord, when' he cometh, fhall find watching. Amen, I fay to you, he fhall fet him over all he hath.

'cum venerit Dominus, invenerit vigilantem. Amen, dico vobis, fuper omnia bona fua coniti

tuet eum.

POSTCOMMUNION. Deus fidelium. God, the rewarder of faithful fouls, grant that we may obtain forgiveness by the prayers of bleffed N. thy Confefior and Bithop, whofe venerable feaft we celebrate. Thro'.
