The very murtherous attempt of killing a foule by abufing an Ordinance of God, corrupting of Religion, telling lyes in the name of the Lord,fathering our own damnable lyes upon the holy Spirit, is a Capitall crime.

XX. Chriftians are in a worse condition then the Jewes were,if men may seduce our wives and children into such opinions and practices as will certainly undoe their fouls to all eternity, and wee muft onely increat them not to feduce our friends to Hell,and the Chriftian Magiftrate hath no power to. punish these Soule-murthering feducers. This argument is affectionately preffed by fweet Mr. Burroughs in his book of Heart divifions, pag. 23. 24.

I have much more to deliver upon this weighty point; but I remember what Hugo faid, That it is beft at fome time to say nothing, at every time to fay enough, but at no time to fay all.
