LESSON VII.

From the 3d and 5th Chapters of Genesis.

THEREFORE the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. And all the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died.

LESSON VII.

QUESTIONS.

WAS Adam permitted to remain in Eden? Did he die as soon as he was driven out?

How many years did Adam live in all? How did God prevent Adam from returning into Eden?

LESSON VIII.

All

AFTER Adam and Eve were driven out of Eden, they had several children; and in time the earth was peopled with men and women. these are born to a life of trouble, and must die. This is the consequence of Adam's sin.

But God, who is always merciful, sent his Son Jesus Christ, to save mankind from ruin, and to restore them to happiness.

It was about 4000 years after the Fall of Adam, and 1832 years ago, that Jesus Christ was born.

LESSON VIII. QUESTIONS.

How was the earth peopled?

What are the ill effects of Adam's sin on all mankind?

Did God do any thing to relieve mankind?
What?

How long ago was Jesus Christ born?
How long after the Fall?

Why are all men born to trouble, and to die?

LESSON IX.

THE Bible consists of the Old Testament, and the New.

The Old Testament contains the history of God's dealings with mankind previous to the birth of Christ.

The New Testament contains the history of Jesus Christ, of what he did and suffered to save mankind; and teaches men how they ought to live to obtain eternal life through Jesus Christ.

As it would take a long while for you to learn all the Lessons I intend to give you from the Old Testament, we will put them off to another time, and begin the Lessons from the New Testament.
