Come, JESU, come! I now am weary,
My strength is gone, my hour is nigh;
I long for peace, all now is dreary;
O leave me not alone to die.
O come and aid my frail endeavour,

Thou art the only Way, the Truth, and Life, for ever.
*When called by Thee I gain Thy portal,
Mine will be joys no worlds can give;
There shall I know my pains were mortal,
There will my soul in glory live.

There I around Thy Throne shall hover,

There, my Redeemer, I shall sing Thy praise for ever.*

* Sometimes sung as a separate Anthem.

ST. MATTHEW xi. 28. Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.†

29. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me;* for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. Amen.

SACRED CANTATA.-"GOD GOETH UP."

No. I

GOD goeth up with shouting, and the LORD with sound of the trumpet. Sing praises unto GOD, O sing praises to our King and GOD.

No. 2

To-day the Highest His own triumph hath proclaimed, For now captivity itself He captive leads.

Who shout for Him? What be they who their trumpets

sound?

Who hastening throng around Him?

Is it not God's own Host,

Who the honour of His Name,

Health, wealth, praise, strength, and might,
With voices loud are singing,

To Him for evermore an Alleluia bringing?

No. 3

Ten thousand times thousand, His chariot surrounding,
As King of all kings, His loud praises are sounding;
The earth and the heavens before Him bow down;
No longer His foes can withhold Him His Crown.

No. 4

So the LORD, after He with His disciples then had spoken, was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of GOD.

No. 5

Our JESUS hath for aye

Redemption's work full ended,
And back He takes His way

From whence He first descended;
His earthly course now o'er,
Ye heavens, ope your gates,
Receive Him back once more.

No. 6

He comes, the LORD of lords,
O'er hell the Prince victorious,
Of grave and death destroyer,
Of sin subduer glorious,
Who Satan's crew cast down.
Dominions, hither haste,
Your King uplift and crown.

No. 7

'Tis He Who all alone

Hath trodden well the winepress;

How full of woes unknown,

For guilty ones the guiltless,
What pain and grief He bore!
Ye thrones, O hither haste,
And crown Him yet once more.

No. 8

The Father hath appointed Him a realm eternal,

The hour is come when He may claim His throne

supernal;

Though vexed by thousand woes,

I pause upon my way

To hail Him as He goes.

No. 9

My spirit Him descries at GOD's right hand, where sitting,

He Satan now defies, and sends deliverance fitting
From weeping, loss, and shame.

I pause upon my way
Upgazing, help to claim.

No. 10

A mansion at His side is He for me preparing,
Where I may aye abide, my wedding garment wearing,
Set free from woe and pain.

I pause upon my way
To raise my grateful strain.

No. II

O JESUS CHRIST, Thou dearest LORD,
Thou Prince of life and glory,

Thou with the Father art ador'd

In heaven where saints surround Thee.

How best can I the victory sing

Won by Thy might, Thou gracious King?

What strains can I be raising,

Thy love and power praising?

Draw us to Thee, that haste we may,

The wings of Faith aye plying;

Help us to turn from earth away,
The land of bondage flying.

My GOD, when may I soar to Thee?
When joy and peace my portion be?
When may I stand before Thee?
When reign with Thee in Glory?

SACRED CANTATA.-"GOD SO LOVED THE

WORLD."
No. I

That GOD doth love the world, we know,
Since He hath sent His Son to save us :
Tc Him be faithful here below,

Then take the endless life He gave us.
To trust in JESUS, our salvation,
Will guard the soul from reprobation :
There is no ill which him can move,
Whom GOD the LORD vouchsafes to love.
No. 2

My heart, ever trusting,
Be joyful with singing,
For JESUS is here.
Bid sorrow and sighing
Their flight to be taking,
Now JESUS is near.

No. 3

It is not mine to be highminded.

This thought consoles and makes me glad,
That me hath JESUS not forgotten.

He sought not out the world for judgment,
Nay, nay, He would for sin and guilt, thus
Reconciling GOD and man, effect atonement.
No. 4

On my behalf was Thy revealing,
This know I well, by faith and feeling,
And Thou for me amends hast made.
Though now the doom of earth were spoken,
Though Satan wielded power unbroken,

My praise to Thee should still be paid.

No. 5

On Him believing, thou art free from judgment; but if unbelieving, thou art now under judgment, as believing not on the Name of the only Son of GOD the Father.

SACRED CANTATA.-" GOD'S OWN TIME IS THE BEST."

GOD's own time is the best, yea, is ever best of all. In Him live we, move, and have our being, as long as He wills; and, at His good time, in Him we die, when He wills.

O LORD, incline us to consider, that our days are numbered; make us apply our hearts unto wisdom.

"Set in order thine house, for thou shalt die, and not remain among the living." It is the old decree: Man, thou art mortal.

Yea, come, LORD JESUS, come.

Into Thy hands my spirit I commend, for Thou hast redeemed me, O LORD Thou GOD of truth.

"Thou shalt be with Me to-day in Paradise."

(Sung at the same time as the above.)

In joy and peace I pass away,
When GOD willeth :

The fears that vex my anxious soul
His love stilleth.

Trusting in His promise sure,
In death I sleep calm and secure.

All glory, praise, and majesty,
To Father, Son, and Spirit be,
The Holy, Blessed Trinity,
Whose power to us gives victory,
Through JESUS CHRIST. Amen.
