O. KING.

PSALM 1xxxiv. I. O how amiable are Thy dwellings, Thou LORD of hosts!

2. My soul hath a desire and longing to enter into the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh rejoice in the living GOD.

3. Yea, the sparrow hath found her an house, and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young: even Thy altars, O LORD of Hosts, my King and my God.

4. Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house: they will be alway praising Thee.

5. Blessed is the man whose strength is in Thee: in whose heart are Thy ways.

6. Who going through the vale of misery use it for a well and the pools are filled with water.

4. Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house: they will be alway praising Thee. Amen.

1840 WEST, vv. 1−3.

O. KING.

1841

The star that now is shining
In skies so blue and bright,
Shone ages since on shepherds
Who watched their flocks by night.
When lo! a white-winged angel

The watchers stood before,

And told how CHRIST was born on earth,
For mortals to adore;

And suddenly in the heavens
Appeared an angel-band
(The while in reverent wonder
The Syrian shepherds stand).
And all the bright host chanted
Words that will never cease:
Glory to God in the highest,

On earth, good-will, and peace.

Hark! hark, my soul! angelic songs are swelling

O'er earth's green fields, and ocean's wave-beat shore: How sweet the truth those blessèd strains are telling Of that new life when sin shall be no more.

Angels of JESUs, angels of light,

Singing to welcome the pilgrims of the night!
Beside a humble manger

Was the maiden Mother mild,
And in her arm her Son divine,
A new-born Infant, smiled.
The star that shone in Bethlehem
Shines still and shall not cease,
And still we hear the tidings
Of Glory and of Peace.

Angels! sing on, your faithful watches keeping,
Sing us sweet fragments of the songs above;
Till morning's joy shall end the night of weeping,
And life's long shadows break in cloudless love.
Angels of JESUs, angels of light,

Singing to welcome the pilgrims of the night!

O. KING.

PSALM xlvi. 1. GOD is our hope and strength: a very present help in trouble.

3. Though the waters thereof rage and swell: and though the mountains shake at the tempest of the same. 7. The LORD of hosts is with us: the GOD of Jacob is our refuge.

ments.

16, 17. And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever, even the Spirit of truth; [whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you and shall be in you.]
