PSALM CXviii. 24. This is the day which the LORD hath made: we will rejoice and be glad in it.

I CORINTHIANS XV. 20. For now is CHRIST risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22. For as in Adam all die, even so in CHRIST shall all be made alive.

57. Thanks be to GOD, Which giveth us the victory through our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Hallelujah. Amen. S. C. COOKE, Sewell.

Art thou weary, art thou languid,

Art thou sore distrest?

Sewell.

"Come to Me," saith One," and coming,
Be at rest."

Hath He marks to lead me to Him,

If He be my Guide?

"In His Feet and Hands are Wound-prints,
And His Side."

Hath He diadem as Monarch

That His brow adorns ?
"Yea, a Crown, in very surety,
But of Thorns."

If I find Him, if I follow,

What His guerdon here ?

Many a sorrow, many a labour,
Many a tear."

If I still hold closely to Him,
What hath He at last?
"Sorrow vanquished, labour ended,
Jordan past."

If I ask Him to receive me,
Will He say me nay?

"Not till earth, and not till heaven
Pass away."

Finding, following, keeping, struggling,
Is He sure to bless?

HEBREWS iv. 16. Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

C. H. LLOYD.

I CHRONICLES xxix. 14. Who are we, O LORD, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? For all things come of Thee, and of Thine own have we given Thee.

C. H. LLOYD.

Come unto CHRIST, ye mourners,
And He will give you rest;

Come with your sins and sorrows
To His all-pitying breast.
Come to the arms that love you,
Out-stretched upon the Cross,
Come to the patient Saviour,

That knows your grief and loss.
Behold Him gently knocking
Without the fast-closed door;
Have ye no word of welcome,
And must He knock no more?

O come and open quickly,
Before He turn away;

And through the doorway streaming
Shall shine the light of day.

Come unto CHRIST, ye mourners,
And find in Him your peace;

For He is consolation,

And He has sure release.

Come to the love unending,
The perfect sympathy;
And He shall be your solace
To all eternity.

There is a green hill far away,

Without a city wall,

Somerset.

Where the dear LORD was crucified,
Who died to save us all.

We may not know, we cannot tell
What pains He had to bear,
But we believe it was for us

He hung and suffered there.

He died that we might be forgiven,
He died to make us good,

That we might go at last to Heaven,
Saved by His precious Blood.

There was no other good enough
To pay the price of sin;
He only could unlock the gate
Of Heaven, and let us in.

O dearly, dearly has He loved,
And we must love Him too,

And trust in His redeeming Blood,

And try His works to do.

GOUNOD, SOMERSET.

ST. LUKE ii. 15. Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the LORD hath made known unto us.

16. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.

20. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising GOD for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

This is He Whom seers in old time
Chanted of with one accord;

Whom the voices of the Prophets
Promised in their faithful word;
Now He shines, the long expected:
Let creation praise its LORD
Evermore and evermore.

Amen.

PSALM CXXX.

No. I

(Paraphrase). Out of darkness call I unto Thee, LORD; LORD, hearken to my calling. O be Thine ears attentive, when I make my supplication, and hear Thou me.

No. 2

If Thou, LORD, shouldst number transgressions, who shall abide it? But with Thee is forgiveness, that we may fear Thee.

No. 3

I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait for Him, and my hope is in His word. Yea, my soul is looking for the LORD, far more than watchmen look for the morning.

No. 4

Israel, hope thou in the LORD, for with the LORD there is mercy, and full redemption with Him.

No. 5

And He shall Israel His people from all their sins deliver. Amen.

HENSCHEL.

PSALM XXXI. 26. O love the LORD, all ye His saints: for the LORD preserveth them that are faithful, and plenteously rewardeth the proud doer.

27. Be strong, and He shall establish your heart, [all ye that put your trust in the LORD.]

A. H. MANN.

1534 GOLDWIN, OUSELEY, SULLIVAN, vv. 26, 27. [Amen.]
