1249 PSALM lv. 23. O cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall nourish thee: He shall not suffer the righteous to fall for ever. 1250 I. In humble faith and holy love, The song of saints and martyrs sing; 2. Three mystic rays in glory shine THORNE. From the tremendous Godhead's Throne, 3. In this sad vale of tears below, Our anchor this of faith and love; In our Redeemer's strength rejoice; 1251 GARRETT. ISAIAH ii. 2. It shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3. And many people shall say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the GOD of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD out of Jerusalem. 5. O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD. NAHUM i. 7. The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him. ISAIAH ii. 4. The LORD shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. xi. 9. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. Amen. GARRETT. 1252 PSALM xliii. Just Judge of Heaven, against my foes While me insulting foes oppress ? Let me with light and truth be blest, And in Thy sacred temple pray. On GOD thy GOD for aid rely, Who will thy ruin'd state repair. Then will I there fresh altars raise And well-tun'd harps, with songs of praise, Who will Thy ruin'd state repair. GARRETT. 1253 PSALM XXXiii. 20-22. Our soul on GOD with patience waits, Then, LORD, let still our hearts rejoice, The riches of Thy mercy, LORD, Do Thou to us extend, Since we, for all we want, or wish, Alone on Thee depend. 1254 GARRETT. PSALM Cvii. 8. Praise ye the LORD for His goodness, and declare the wonders that He doeth for the children of men. cxlv. 15. The eyes of all wait on Thee, O LORD, and Thou givest them meat in due season. 16. Thou openest Thine hand, and fillest all things living with plenteousness. GARRETT. 1255 PSALM CXlV. 9. The LORD is loving unto every man: and His mercy is over all His works. 10. All Thy works praise Thee, O GOD: and Thy saints give thanks unto Thee. II. They shew the glory of Thy Kingdom: and talk of Thy power; 12. That Thy power, Thy glory, and the mightiness of Thy Kingdom, might be known unto men. 13. Thy Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom: and Thy law is the truth. Amen. 1256 GARRETT. ISAIAH xl. 3. The voice of one crying in the wilder ness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill made low: the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places shall be made plain. 5. And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. 6. The voice said, Cry. What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: 8. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth but the word of our GOD shall stand for ever. 1257 Amen. GARRETT. PSALM CXXV. 1. They that put their trust in the LORD shall be even as the mount Sion, which may not be removed, but standeth fast for ever. 2. The hills stand about Jerusalem: even so standeth the LORD round about His people, from this time forth for evermore, (xxiv. 6) and delivereth them out of all their troubles. CXXV. 4. Do well, O LORD, unto those that are good and true of heart. GARRETT. 1258 JOEL ii. 12. Thus saith the LORD, Turn ye even to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning. HOSEA Vi. I. Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for He hath torn, and He will heal us; He hath smitten, and He will bind us up. ISAIAH i. 18. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red as crimson, they shall be as wool. 19, 20. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: but if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. PSALM ciii. 8, 9. The LORD is full of compassion and mercy, plenteous in goodness, neither keepeth He His anger for ever. 13. Yea, like as a father pitieth his own children, even so is the LORD merciful to them that fear Him. ii. 12. O blessed are they that trust in Him. ISAIAH ii. 5. O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD. GARRETT. 1259 ROMANS viii. 1. There is no condemnation to them which are in CHRIST JESUS, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 9. Now if any man have not the Spirit of CHRIST, he is none of His. 14. For as many as are led by the Spirit of GOD, they are the sons of God. IRONS. 1260 PSALM Ixi. 1. Hear my cry, O GOD; attend unto my prayer. 2. From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3. For Thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. 4. I will abide in Thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of Thy wings. 5. For Thou, O GOD, hast heard my vows: Thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear Thy Name. 6. Thou wilt prolong the king's life, and his years as many generations. 7. He shall abide before GOD for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him. 8. So will I sing praise unto Thy Name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows. VERRINDER. |
