PSALM lvi. 1. Be merciful unto me, O GOD, for man goeth about to devour me: he is daily fighting, and troubling me.

2. Mine enemies are daily in hand to swallow me up, for they be many that fight against me, O Thou most Highest.

3. Nevertheless, though I am sometime afraid, yet put I my trust in Thee.

4. I will praise GOD, because of His word: I have put my trust in GOD, and will not fear what flesh can do unto

me.

5. They daily mistake my words; all that they imagine is to do me evil.

6. They hold all together, and keep themselves close, and mark my steps, when they lay wait for my soul.

7. Shall they escape for their wickedness? Thou, O GOD, in Thy displeasure shall cast them down.

10. In GOD's word will I rejoice; in the LORD's word will I comfort me.

II. Yea, in GOD have I put my trust; I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

[12. Unto Thee, O GOD, will I pay my vows; unto Thee will I give thanks.

13. For Thou hast delivered my soul from death, and my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living.] Hallelujah. Amen.

PSALM iii. Jehova, quam multi sunt hostes mei, quam multi insurgunt contra me! Quam multi dicunt de animâ meâ, non est ulla salus isti in Deo plane. At Tu, Jehova, clypeus es circa me: gloria mea, et extollens caput meum. Voce meâ ad Jehovam clamanti respondit mihi e monte sanctitatis Suæ maxime. Ego cubui et dormivi, ego expergefeci me, quia Jehova sustentat me. Non timebo a myriadibus populi quas circum disposuerint metatores contra me. Surge, surge, Jehova, fac salvum me, Deus mi: Qui percussisti omnes inimicos meos maxillam, dentes improborum confregisti. Jehova est salus, super populum Tuum sit benedictio Tua maxime.

English Version.

2. How many say of my soul in derision, It is not for him to find in his GOD salvation.

3. But Thou, Jehovah, like a shield defendest me, Thou art my glory, and the lifter up of my head.

4. With my voice I cry aloud to Jehovah, and He doth hear me, and from His holy mountain He doth answer

me.

5. I did lay me down to take rest; I was sleeping, then I awaked; yea, for Jehovah sustaineth me.

6. I will fear not, though of the people ten thousands against me have set themselves as adversaries round about.

7. Rise up, rise up, Jehovah, my help and salvation be. 8. For Thou hast all mine enemies smitten upon the cheek-bone, yea, the teeth of the wicked Thou hast broken. 9. Jehovah doth save us. On Thy people, Thy chosen, for ever be Thy blessing plenteously.
