II. Nam angelis cœlorum mandavit super te, ut custodiant te in cunctis viis tuis.

12. Imperavit super te Deus Angelis, et in manibus te portabunt, ne ad lapidem te lædas.

13. Basiliscum et aspidem calcabis, leones et dracones superincedes.

14. Ille Me quæsivit et eum adjuvabo. Nomen cognovit Meum, quare servabo eum.

15. Ad Me clamabit et exaudiam eum; cum ipso moestus ero, et eum eripiam et glorificabo.

16. Huic dabo vivere per longos annos ævumque producere, et eum in cœlum vocabo ad Me.

Paraphrase.

He that under the shield of the Highest dwelleth, alway under the shadow of the Almighty abideth. I will say to the LORD "My protection, my strong defence, my GOD, in Thee will I trust." He shall Ideliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. My GOD, in Thee will I trust. He shall cover Thee with His feathers, and beneath His wings thou shalt hide in safety. Like a buckler shall be His faithfulness. Thou shalt not be affrighted for the terror of night; for the arrow that in daytime flieth; for the pestilence that in darkness walketh; for destruction that at noonday wasteth: a thousand shall fall beside thee, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. With thine eyes shalt thou behold it, the reward of the wicked. O LORD my GOD, Thou art my refuge. The most High is thy habitation, there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling for the LORD, He shall give His angels charge over thee, and in all thy ways they shall keep thee. In their hands they shall bear thee up, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread on the lion and the adder, and trample on the young lion and on the dragon. He hath set his love on Me, and therefore I will deliver him; he hath known My Name, and therefore I will exalt him; he shall call on Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and to honour raise him. Him will I satisfy with length of good days, and shew him salvation that cometh of Me.
