Amen.

I. Behold, how good and joyful a thing

it is, brethren, to dwell together in unity.

[2. It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down unto the beard, even unto Aaron's beard, and went down to the skirts of his clothing.]

3. It is like the dew of Hermon, which fell upon the hill of Sion.

4. For there the LORD promised His blessing, and life for evermore.

[c. 4. For the LORD is gracious, His mercy is everlasting and His truth endureth from generation to generation.

3. O go your way into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and speak good of His Name.]

A PRAYER.

Hide not Thou Thy face from us, O LORD, nor cast away Thy servants in Thy displeasure, for we confess our sins unto Thee, and our unrighteousness have we not hid. LORD, lift Thou up the light of Thy countenance upon us; so shall we rejoice and be glad all the days of our life. Amen.

PSALM XCIV. 2. Arise, Thou Judge of the world: reward the proud after their deserving.

3. LORD, how long shall the ungodly triumph?

7. And yet they say, The LORD shall not see it, neither shall the GOD of Jacob regard it.

8. Take heed, ye unwise among the people: O ye fools, when will ye understand?

9. He that planted the ear, shall He not hear? or He that made the eye, shall He not see?

10. Or He that teacheth man knowledge, shall not He punish?

II. The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are but vain.

xcv. 6. O come, let us worship and fall down, and kneel before the LORD our Maker.

7. For He is the LORD our GOD: His judgments are in all the world.

ciii. 9. He will not alway be chiding, neither keepeth He His anger for ever.

cvii. 8. O that men would therefore praise the LORD for His goodness, and declare the wonders that He doeth for the children of men!

4. For though they be punished in the sight of men, yet is their hope full of immortality.

5. [And having been a little chastised, they shall be greatly rewarded:] for GOD proved them, and found them worthy for Himself.

[6. As gold in the furnace hath He tried them, and received them as a burnt-offering.]

7. And in the time of their visitation they shall shine, [and run to and fro like sparks among the stubble.]

8. They shall judge the nations, and have dominion over the people, and their LORD shall reign for ever and ever. Amen.

Ave verum corpus, natum
De Mariâ Virgine,
Vere passum, immolatum
In cruce pro homine,
Cujus latus perforatum

Undâ fluxit et sanguine;
Esto nobis prægustatum,
Mortis in examine

[O JESU dulcis, O JESU pie,

NARES.

O JESU, Fili Mariæ, miserere nobis. Amen.]

Paraphrase.

JESU, [Blessed] Word of GOD Incarnate,
Of the [Blessed] Virgin Mary born,
On the Cross Thy sacred Body,

For us men with nails was torn.
Cleanse us, by the blood and water,
Streaming from Thy pierced Side;
Feed us with Thy Body broken,
Now, and in death's agony!
[O JESU, hear us, O JESU, spare us,
O JESU, Blessed Son of Mary,
O grant us, LORD, Thy mercy.

Amen.]

(Sometimes sung to the following words.)

Give ear unto me, LORD, I beseech Thee, for I have walked in Thy commandments. Let me be judged with righteous judgment; hold my goings in Thy paths, that my steps may not be moved.
