[Abraham Lincoln's copy, with his autograph signature "A. Lincoln" on the fly-leaf. An item of great Association interest, having been used by Lincoln in his law partnership with William H. Herndon at Springfield, Illinois. On the inside of the front cover Lincoln's law partner, Herndon, has written "Lincoln & Herndon." Inserted is a legal document written entirely in the autograph of Lincoln, and in the body of which his name

appears three times-(1) "A. Lincoln," (2) "Abraham Lincoln," and (3) "Lincoln." This document contains, approximately, 175 words, and describes the case of James Kelly v. David G. Evans, and is written on one side of a folio sheet, dated August 10, 1855; indorsement on verso of sheet in Lincoln's autograph, reading "James Kelly Abstract, vs. Blackledge's estate.' Also, inserted, is an original autograph letter signed by Andrew Zane, I p. 8vo., Philadelphia, Dec. 17, 1894, giving an historical account of how the book came into his possession.
