V.

I WILL bless the LORD, who hath given

me counsel:

I have set the LORD always before me: he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right. hand there are pleasures for evermore. [Psalm xvi. 7-11.]

VI.

THE way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the

just.

VII.

[Isaiah xxvi. 27.]

TH

HE LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
The LORD make his face shine upon
thee, and be gracious unto thee:

The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

VIII.

[Numbers vi. 24-26.]

'HE LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. [Psalm cxlvii. 11.]

IX.

JUSTICE and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.

For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.

Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.

I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him :

With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.

The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.

[Psalm lxxxix. 14—22.]

HEY looked unto him, and were lightened and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. [Psalm xxxiv. 5—7.]

XI.

BLESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand

eth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the

rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous but the way of the ungodly shall

perish.

XII.

[Psalm i. 1-6.]

BLESSED is the soul of him that feareth

the Lord to whom doth he look? and who is his strength?

For the eyes of the Lord are upon them that love him, he is their mighty protection and strong stay, a defence from heat, and a cover from the sun at noon, a preservation from stumbling, and an help from falling.

[Ecclus. xxxiv. 15, 16.]

XIII.

BLESSED is the man whose strength is

in thee in whose heart are the ways

of them.

XIV.

[Psalm lxxxiv. 5.]

MERCY and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed

each other.

Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase. Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

[Psalm lxxxv. 10-13.]

'HEN they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

[Malachi iii. 16-18.]

XVI.

I WAITED patiently for the LORD; and

he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

XVII.

[Psalm cxl. 1-4.]

BLESSED are the undefiled in the way,

who walk in the law of the LORD. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!

Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.

I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.

I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.

[Psalm cxix. 1—8.]
