return into the way of righteousness; grant unto all them, that are admitted into the fellowship of Christ's religion, that they may eschew those things that are contrary to their profession, and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O GOD, who declarest thy almighty power most chiefly in shewing mercy and pity; mercifully grant unto us such a measure of thy grace, that we running the way of thy commandments, may obtain thy gracious promises, and be made partakers of thy heavenly treasure, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Fourth Sunday in the Month. ALMIGHTY God, who hast sent thy

Son our Lord Jesus Christ to be an ensample of godly life, give us grace that we may always most thankfully receive this thy inestimable benefit, and daily endeavour ourselves to follow the blessed steps of his most holy life, to the honour of our Christian profession, and the glory of thy name. Amen.

O GOD, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, give us grace seriously to lay to heart the great dangers we are in by unhappy divisions. Take away all hatred and prejudice, and whatsoever else may hinder us from godly union and concord; and as there is but one body, and one spirit, and one hope of our calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God, and Father of us all; so we may henceforth be all of one heart and of one soul, united in one holy bond of truth and peace, of faith and charity, and may with one mind and one mouth glorify thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Here may be introduced Collects for particular occasions.

The Prayers that follow are to be read on every Sunday throughout the year.

A Prayer for the whole Christian Church. AL LMIGHTY and everliving God, who

by thy holy apostle hast taught us to make supplications and to give thanks for all men; we humbly entreat thee most mercifully to receive these our prayers which we offer unto thy divine Majesty, beseeching thee to inspire con

tinually all thy sincere worshippers with the spirit of truth, unity, and concord: and grant that all they that do confess the name of Christ may agree in the truth of thy holy word, and live in unity and godly love. We beseech thee also to preserve and defend all lawful kings, princes, and governors, especially thy servant our queen, that under her we may be peaceably governed. And grant unto her whole council and to all that are put in authority under her, that they may truly and impartially administer justice, to the punishment of wickedness and vice, and the maintenance of thy true religion and virtue. Give wisdom, O heavenly Father, to all the ministers of thy holy gospel, that they may, both by their life and doctrine, set forth thy true and lively word. And to all thy people give thy heavenly aid, and especially to this congregation here present, that with meek heart and due reverence they may hear and receive thy holy word, truly serving thee in holiness and righteousness all the days of their life. And we most humbly beseech thee, of thy goodness, O LORD, to comfort and

succour all those who in this transitory life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity. And we also bless thy name for all thy servants departed this life in thy holy fear; beseeching thee to enable us so to follow their good examples, that with them we may be partakers of thy heavenly kingdom. In these our requests, we beseech thee, O God, to hear and to accept us as the disciples of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

GUIDE us, O LORD, in all our doings, with thy most gracious favour, and further us with thy continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in thee, we may glorify thy holy name, and finally by thy mercy obtain everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY God, the fountain of all wisdom, who knowest our necessities before we ask, and our ignorance in asking; we beseech thee to have compassion on our infirmities; and those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and

for our blindness we cannot ask, vouchsafe to give us as the disciples of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

*This is to be said

when any that have been prayed for desire to return praise.

A General Thanksgiving. ALMIGHTY God, Father of all mercies, we, thine unworthy servants, do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all men [particularly to those who desire now to offer up their praises and thanksgivings for thy late mercies vouchsafed unto them*]. We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life: but, above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we may show forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
