Between the largest and the
smallest G-E motors are thou-
sands, of many different sizes,
including the small motors
that you see on fans, sewing
machines, washers, and vac-
uum cleaners. The General
Electric Company is making
motors for every kind of use-
ful service.

Look carefully at any directcurrent electric motor and you will see the "armature," which spins around inside the "field" and converts the electric current into power.

The girl holds a little armature. Behind it is the largest single unit we have built, for a directcurrent motor of 4500 horse power, for use in Detroit to help make automobiles.
