THE Constitution of the Church declares that "no alteration or addition shall be made in the Book of Common Prayer, or other Offices of the Church, or the Articles of Religion, unless the same shall be proposed in one General Convention, and by a resolve thereof made known to the Convention of every Diocese, and adopted at the subsequent General Convention." In accordance with this provision, the "alterations and additions" contained in the following pages, proposed at the General Convention of 1883, and to be acted upon at the General Convention of 1886, have been made known to the Conventions of the several Dioceses, and also, as required by Title III, Canon 1, Section iii of the Digest, to the Ecclesiastical Authority thereof.
