RESOLUTION XI.

Resolved: That the following changes and additions be made in connection with

THE

COLLECTS, EPISTLES, AND GOSPELS,

TO BE USED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR,

and that the proposed changes and addi-
tions be made known to the several Dio-
ceses, in order that they may be severally
adopted in the next General Convention,
in accordance with the provisions of Article
VIII of the Constitution.

(a) Insert after the general title, the
following rubric:-

The Collect, Epistle, and Gospel, appointed 72
for the Sunday, shall serve all the Week
after, where it is not in this Book otherwise
ordered.

(b) After the Gospel for Christmas-day,
insert the following rubric:-

may be used.

together with the following Collect, Epistle,
and Gospel:-

The Collect.

GOD, who makest us glad with the yearly remembrance of the birth of thine only Son Jesus Christ; Grant that as we joyfully receive him for our Redeemer, so we may with sure confidence behold him, when he shall come to be our Judge, who liveth and reigneth, with

takers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. (c) Insert immediately after the Gospel B. A. for Christmas-day, the Collects, Epistles, 81-86 and Gospels, for St. Stephen's Day, St. John the Evangelist's Day, The Innocents' Day, omitting them from their present place, and putting after the Gospel for the Innocents' Day the following rubric:

If there be any more days before the Sunday
after Christmas-day, the Collect, Epistle, and
Gospel for Christmas-day shall serve for them.
(d) Amend the rubric after The Collect
for St. Stephen's Day, so as to read as
follows:-

Then shall follow one of the Collects of the
Nativity, which shall be said continually
until the Feast of Circumcision.

(e) Insert after The Gospel for The
Epiphany, the following rubric:-

¶ The same Collect, Epistle, and Gospel shall
serve for every day after, unto the next
Sunday.

(f) Add to the rubric after The Collect
for Ash Wednesday, the following words,
until the Sunday before Easter, so that the
rubric will read as follows:-

¶ This Collect is to be read every day in Lent, 107
after the Collect appointed for the day, until
the Sunday before Easter.

(g) Omit the second rubric after The
Collect for Ash Wednesday, and the prayers
that follow it, to wit:*-
