O GOD, forasmuch as without Thee we are not able to please Thee, mercifully grant that Thy Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O GOD, Whose blessed Son was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil, and make us the sons of God and heirs of eternal life, grant us, we beseech Thee, that having this hope, we may purify ourselves, even as He is pure; that when He shall appear again, with power and great glory, we may be made like unto Him in His eternal and glorious Kingdom; where with Thee, O Father, and Thee, O Holy Ghost, He liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

O Lord God, Who hast commanded us to work during six days, we beseech Thee, at the beginning of this new working week, to dispose our hearts and minds towards our several duties, and strengthen us to do them carefully and conscientiously. Help us to remember that our daily work is Thy ordinance for our good, and to see Thee in every occupation that engages us. Give us strength of body and readiness of mind sufficient for the daily calls upon us, and write Thy law upon our hearts for our guidance each moment. Endue us with patience under whatever trials this day may bring us; and in all our doings prevent us with Thy most gracious favour, and further us with Thy continual help, that in all our works, begun, continued, and ended in Thee, we may glorify Thy holy Name, and finally by Thy mercy obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And

forgive us our trespasses; as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.

Amen.

MONDAY EVENING.-SECOND WEEK.

BE

PSALM XXVI.

E thou my Judge, O Lord, for I have walked innocently; my trust hath been also in the Lord, therefore shall I not fall.

Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try out my reins and my heart.

For thy loving-kindness is ever before mine eyes; and I will walk in thy truth.

I have not dwelt with vain persons; neither will I have fellowship with the deceitful.

I have hated the congregation of the wicked; and will not sit among the ungodly.

I will wash mine hands in innocency, O Lord, and so will I go to thine altar;

That I may shew the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.

Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.

O shut not up my soul with the sinners, nor my life with the blood-thirsty ;

In whose hands is wickedness; and their right hand is full of gifts.

But as for me, I will walk innocently; O deliver me, and be merciful unto me.

My foot standeth right; I will praise the Lord in the congregations.

Let us pray.

Lord have mercy upon us.

Christ have mercy upon us.
Lord have mercy upon us.

OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses; As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

ALMIGHTY FATHER, Who knowest our frailty, and hast commanded us to watch and pray lest we enter into temptation, help us, we pray Thee, on this the first secular evening of another week, searchingly to examine ourselves. If the Divine lessons and good impressions of yesterday have thus early begun to fade from our minds, pity our weakness, O Lord, and renew those lessons and deepen those impressions. If in the hurry of life's business we have in any wise swerved from Thy commandments, shew us our error, and recall our steps to the right way. For any superiority to temptation that we have shewn to-day, and for any hour we have spent well, accept our offering of thanksgiving and praise. Help us each evening of our lives to search our hearts by the light of Thy Holy Word; and mercifully supply, with full pardon for the past, all needful grace in the future, and in the end everlasting salvation; for the sake of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

O LORD, Who never failest to help and govern them whom Thou dost bring up in Thy steadfast fear and love, keep us, we beseech Thee, under the protection of Thy good Providence, and make us to have a perpetual fear and love of Thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

INTO Thy hands, O loving Father, we commend our bodies and souls for another night. Spread Thy sheltering wings over our habitations, and keep us from all evil. When morning dawns, let the Day-spring arise in our hearts; and for new duties endue us with new strength, and grace sufficient; through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.

TUESDAY MORNING.-SECOND WEEK.

UNTO

PSALM XXVIII.

NTO thee will I cry, O Lord my strength; think no scorn of me; lest, if thou make as though thou hearest not, I become like them that go down into the pit.

Hear the voice of my humble petitions, when I cry unto thee; when I hold up my hands towards the mercy-seat of thy holy temple.

O pluck me not away, neither destroy me with the ungodly and wicked doers; which speak friendly to their neighbours, but imagine mischief in their hearts.

Reward them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their own inventions.

Recompense them after the work of their hands; pay them that they have deserved.

For they regard not in their minds the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands; therefore shall he break them down, and not build them up.

Praised be the Lord; for he hath heard the voice of my humble petitions.

The Lord is my strength, and my shield; my heart hath trusted in him, and I am helped; therefore my heart danceth for joy, and in my song will I praise him.

The Lord is my strength; and he is the wholesome defence of his Anointed.

O save thy people, and give thy blessing unto thine inheritance; feed them, and set them up for ever,
