OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses; As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

O HOLY LORD GOD, Who hast promised to hear the prayer of all sincere suppliants, but Who beholdest the proud afar off, incline us at this moment earnestly to seek the preparation of heart which Thou requirest. The sin, which we confess has marked our course till now, help us truly to mourn over, and with full purpose of heart to forsake. And of Thy great mercy pardon and deliver us from all our sins, and confirm and strengthen us in all goodness for the time to come. Inspire us with a growing hatred of all evil, and make us daily more like our sinless Example and perfect Saviour. Redeemed through His blood, and sanctified by the Holy Ghost, may we become pure in heart and blameless in life; and in Thy good time come to the perfect and sinless life of heaven; through Thy mercy, O blessed Father, in Thy Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Who seest that we have no power of ourselves to help ourselves, keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls; that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O HEAVENLY FATHER, Whose good providence has led us to the close of another day, help us to lay it to heart that that night cometh when no man can work. To all our fellowcreatures, who have come to their last night in this world, give

true repentance, resignation, and hope. Help them to make their peace with God and men; and according to the greatness of Thy power preserve them in their last hour. When our own turn shall come to tread the dark vale of death, let Thy rod and staff comfort us, and Thy Presence banish all fear of ill. Absent from the body, may we be present with the Lord. And while our souls are at rest with Thee, let us be remembered upon earth for something. which may bless those who come after us, and, in however small a measure, promote Thy glory; through the merits and mediation of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.

FRIDAY MORNING.-FOURTH WEEK.

O

PSALM CXXX.

UT of the deep have I called unto thee, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice.

O let thine ear consider well the voice of my complaint. If thou, Lord, wilt be extreme to mark what is done amiss, O Lord, who may abide it?

For there is mercy with thee; therefore shalt thou be feared. I look for the Lord; my soul doth wait for him; in his word is my trust.

My soul fleeth unto the Lord, before the morning watch; I say, before the morning watch.

O Israel, trust in the Lord; for with the Lord there is mercy; and with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his sins.

Let us pray.

IN the multitude of Thy mercies, O Lord God, do we again venture to approach Thy throne of grace. Unworthy of Thy notice, and unprofitable servants, we yet bring ourselves and our affairs to Thee, Whose Providence takes account of the sparrow that falls, and numbers the hairs of each head that rests upon Thy care. Look upon us, O Lord, in the face of Him in Whom Thou art ever well pleased, and accept His merits on our behalf, who trust in Him. With Him, freely give us all things needful for our souls and bodies, this day. Purify our thoughts; guide our steps; and prosper Thou our handiwork; for the sake of the same Thy Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

K

LORD, we beseech Thee, grant Thy people grace to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil; and with pure hearts and minds to follow Thee the only God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY GOD, by Whom kings reign and princes decree justice, may it please Thee to look with special favour upon our gracious Queen. Keep and strengthen her in the true worshipping of Thee, in righteousness and holiness of life. Rule her heart in Thy faith, fear, and love; give her evermore affiance in Thee; and may she ever seek Thy honour and glory. Be her defender and keeper; giving her the victory over all her enemies. Afford to her length of days, crowned with happiness, if it be Thy good pleasure. May her reign continue prosperous, and her wide-spread Empire flourish in abundance of peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Amen.

IF

Israel say, if the Lord himself had not been on our side, when men rose up against us;

They had swallowed us up quick, when they were so wrathfully displeased at us.

Yea, the waters had drowned us, and the stream had gone over our soul.

The deep waters of the proud had gone even over our soul.

But praised be the Lord, who hath not given us over for a prey unto their teeth.

Our soul is escaped even as a bird out of the snare of the fowler ; the snare is broken, and we are delivered. Our help standeth in the Name of the Lord, who hath made heaven and earth.

Let us pray.

Lord have mercy upon us.

Christ have mercy upon us.

Lord have mercy upon us.

Amen.

LET Thy merciful ears, O Lord, be open to the prayers of Thy humble servants; and that they may obtain their petitions make them to ask such things as shall please Thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O GOD THE FATHER ETERNAL, Who didst send Thy only Son into the world to declare Thy will, and to suffer, and die, and rise again, for our salvation, fulfil in us Thy gracious pur
