He shall recompense them their wickedness, and destroy them in their own malice; yea, the Lord our God shall destroy them.

Let us pray.

Lord have mercy upon us.

Christ have mercy upon us.

Lord have mercy upon us.

OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses; As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

O LORD OUR GOD, turn not away Thy face in displeasure from us, Thy unworthy children and unprofitable servants. Confessing the sins and failures of another day, we look to Thee this evening for pardon and peace. Hear our penitent supplication, O God, and according to Thy mercy look upon us, and forgive us. Restore unto us the joy of Thy salvation, and uphold us with Thy free Spirit all our days; through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

O GOD, Whose blessed Son was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil, and make us the sons of God and heirs of eternal life, grant us, we beseech Thee, that having this hope, we may purify ourselves, even as He is pure; that when He shall appear again, with power and great glory, we may be made like unto Him, in His eternal and glorious kingdom; where with Thee, O Father, and Thee, O Holy Ghost, He liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

O HEAVENLY FATHER, Who leddest Thy people by night with a cloud of fire, suffer us again to rest under Thy loving protection. Against all the hazards and foes that lurk in darkness be our sure defence. May sound and peaceful sleep bring us refreshment and renewed strength. From harm and loss preserve us and all belonging to us. And may the morning find us thankful for the past, trustful for the future, and ready for all our work and all Thy will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.

THURSDAY MORNING.—FOURTH WEEK.

THE

PSALM XCVII.

HE Lord is King, the earth may be glad thereof; yea, the multitude of the isles may be glad thereof.

Clouds and darkness are round about him; righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his seat.

There shall go a fire before him, and burn up his enemies on every side.

His lightnings gave shine unto the world; the earth saw it, and was afraid.

The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord; at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

The heavens have declared his righteousness, and all the people have seen his glory.

Confounded be all they that worship carved images, and that delight in vain gods; worship him, all ye gods.

Sion heard of it, and rejoiced; and the daughters of Judah were glad, because of thy judgments, O Lord.

For thou, Lord, art higher than all that are in the earth; thou art exalted far above all gods.

O ye that love the Lord, see that ye hate the thing which is evil: the Lord preserveth the souls of his saints; he shall deliver them from the hand of the ungodly.

There is sprung up a light for the righteous, and joyful gladness for such as are true-hearted.

Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous, and give thanks for a remembrance of his holiness.

Let us pray.

O GOD, Whose nature and property is ever to have mercy and forgive, receive our humble petitions; and though we be tied and bound with the chain of our sins, yet let the pitifulness of Thy great mercy loose us; for the honour of Jesus Christ, our Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

O GOD, Who searchest all hearts and takest account of all our ways, help us always to love what Thou commandest, and follow what Thou wilt approve. If tempted to do or to think what is evil, may we remember that Thine eye is upon us, and that the wages of sin is death. Let us never hesitate when the path of duty lies open before us, and never listen to any voice that calls us away from it. Help us at the beginning of this day to renew our solemn preference of Thy favour and service to all earthly good, and to earnestly seek Thy grace, that we may remain true to our choice. O Lord, strengthen within us every good desire and purpose; bless and prosper every worthy endeavour; and through all the changes and chances of this mortal life, graciously remain our Helper and Friend; through the merits of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

O LORD, we beseech Thee to keep Thy Church and household continually in Thy true religion; that they who do lean only upon the hope of Thy heavenly grace, may evermore be defended by Thy mighty power; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Amen.

THURSDAY EVENING.-FOURTH WEEK.

TH

PSALM XCIX.

HE Lord is King, be the people never so impatient; he sitteth between the cherubims, be the earth never so

unquiet.

The Lord is great in Sion, and high above all people. They shall give thanks unto Thy Name, which is great, wonderful, and holy.

The king's power loveth judgement; thou hast prepared equity; thou hast executed judgement and righteousness in Jacob.

O magnify the Lord our God, and fall down before his footstool, for he is holy.

Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among such as call upon his Name: these called upon the Lord, and he heard them.

He spake unto them out of the cloudy pillar, for they kept his testimonies, and the law that he gave them.

Thou heardest them, O Lord our God; thou forgavest them, O God, and punishedst their own inventions.

O magnify the Lord our God, and worship him upon his holy hill, for the Lord our God is holy.

Let us pray.

Lord have mercy upon us.
Christ have mercy upon us.

Lord have mercy upon us.
