(369), March 15, American Art Association $9 [Chamerozow (L. A.)] Chronicles of the Bastile, first series. The Bertaudière, an Historical Romance-[Also, the concluding series] Philip of Lutetia, or the Revolution of 1789... being the last series of the Chronicles of the Bastile, with 62 engraved plates (one being in duplicate) by Robert Cruikshank, 34 in 32 parts, green pictorial wrappers, uncut, enclosed in three cl. box-folders, London, T. C. Newby, 1845-1848, 8vo. (145), Jan. 26, American Art Association $105

[First edition, original issue in the monthly parts. Marchmont (No. 90) cites the "First Series "above as published 1843 and containing 24 plates. A French work of the same title was issued in 1843, but the first number of the work here listed did not appear until January, 1844, as evidenced by the date on the wrapper to Part i., and also by the preface, in which the author states the same fact. The present work also contains 40 plates, and not 24, as Marchmont states. In the Last Series," Marchmont (No. 92) calls for 21 plates, while the present copy contains 22. The fact that one of these, Bird's-Eye View of the Bastile," is a duplicate of the one in the 'First Series," will account for this discrepancy.]
