Our District Meeting will commence in Manchester on the twenty-third of next month. If all be well, I hope to visit Dale Abbey, and spend a few days with you. Blessed be God, my strength is every way adequate for my labours."

Infidel.

In the years 1810-11, Mr. Hollingworth was stationed in the Leigh Circuit. His Superintendent for the first year, was the Rev. T. Fletcher, and for the second, the late Rev. L. Kershaw. In connection with them he was eminently successful in the conversion of sinners, and from the following extracts of letters to his brother, it ap

pears that he made considerable personal advancement in his religious attainments.

Leigh, December 28, 1810. "I am glad to hear that you are well, and still pressing towards the mark, for the prize of your high calling of God in Christ Jesus. My heart's desire and prayer to God is, that you may be saved. Time is incessantly hurrying us onwards to eternity. O, let us do every thing in reference to another world. Let us live to enjoy Christ, to glorify Christ, and then, if for us to live be Christ, to die will be gain.

'There all the ship's company meet,

Who sailed with their Saviour beneath :
With shouting each other they greet,
And triumph o'er sorrow and death.'

Glory be to God for his goodness; he has given me some fruit of my labour in this circuit. We have already had an increase of about fifty members since August, and we have a blessed prospect of more. O that our anticipations may be realized! In the Bolton circuit they are prospering. I think

they have added one hundred members since the Conference. As it respects my health, I am not so well as usual. The exertions of Christmas-day have left me rather indisposed. I attended a prayer-meeting at Wigan at five o'clock in the morning, and the power and presence of God was felt in an extraordinary manner. We remained in the chapel nearly three hours. I preached at half-past ten in the forenoon from Luke ii. 13, 14—' And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good-will toward men.' I then walked to Lamberhead Green, and preached in the afternoon and evening to large and attentive congregations. I like my circuit extremely well. I am very happy with my colleague, and among the people. May the God of all grace bless you with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus."

Leigh, Feb. 12, 1811. "I thank you for your very kind and affectionate letter, and for the many inquiries

which you make concerning my health. I am through the mercy of God completely restored. O may both body and soul be unreservedly devoted to him! To call sinners to repentance, and to exhibit the Saviour and tell of his love, is my greatest delight. I felt unutterable things last night while preaching from our Lord's lamentation over guilty Jerusalem (Matt. xxiii. 37.) I preached the other Sunday four times, and held a love-feast. I wish to labour more than ever for Him, who laboured and died for me.

'My remnant of days I spend in his praise,

Who died the whole world to redeem;
Be they many or few, my days are his due,
And they all are devoted to him.'

The news of the marriage of my brother Benjamin was unexpected. Give my love to them both, and tell them to attend to the apostle's advice (Ephes. v. 22-33.) You wish to know my thoughts concerning a Sunday-school at Dale Abbey: I would advise you to establish one by all means; İ believe thousands will have to praise God to all eternity for those institutions.
