LESSON XXVIII.

MONDAY.-Deut. i. 16. And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him. TUESDAY.-Deut. i. 17.-Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it. • WEDNESDAY.-2 Sam. xxiii. 3.-The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

THURSDAY.-2 Chron. i. 10.-Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

FRIDAY.-Neh. xiii. 11.-Then contended I with the rulers and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place. SATURDAY.-Rom. xii. 8.-Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. SABBATH.-Rom. xiii. 3.-For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou not then be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same.

MONDAY.-Ex. xxii. 28.-Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

TUESDAY.-Eccl. x. 20.-Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bed-chamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hast wings shall tell the

matter.

WEDNESDAY.-Acts xxiii. 5.-Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

THURSDAY.-1 Tim. ii. 2.-For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

FRIDAY.-1 Pet. ii. 13.-Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme, SATURDAY.-1 Pet. ii. 14.-Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evil-doers, and for the praise of them that do well.

SABBATH.- 2 Pet. ii. 10.-But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

MONDAY.-Rom. x. 15.-And how shall they preach, except they be sent ? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

TUESDAY.-Ephes. iii. 14.-For this cause I bow my knees unto the father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

WEDNESDAY.-Phil. ii. 19.-But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send. Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

THURSDAY.-Phil. ii. 20.-For I have no man like minded, who will naturally care for your state.

FRIDAY.-1 Thess. ii. 7.-But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

SATURDAY.-1 Thess. ii. 8.-So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. SABBATH.-2 Tim. iv. 2.-Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine.

MONDAY.-Acts xvii. 11.-These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether these things

were so.

TUESDAY:-1 Cor. iv. 1.-Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God

WEDNESDAY.-Gal. vi. 6.-Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

THURSDAY.-1 Thess. v. 12.-And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

FRIDAY.-1 Thess. v. 13.-And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake: And be at peace among yourselves.

SATURDAY.-1 Thess. v. 25.-Brethren, pray for us.

SABBATH.-Gal. iv. 18.-But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.

MONDAY.-1 Sam. ii. 12.-Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord.

TUESDAY.-1 Sam. iii. 13.-For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. WEDNESDAY.-Prov. xix. 13.-A foolish son is the calamity of his father; and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping. THURSDAY.-Prov. xix. 26.-He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

FRIDAY.-Matt. xxiii. 11.-But he that is greatest among you, shall be your servant.

SATURDAY.-Rom. xii. 10.-Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

SABBATH.-Phil. ii. 3.-Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem other better than themselves.
