O

LORD our God, who art graciously inviting us to read Thy Word and to join together in Thy worship, be pleased to have compassion on our infirmities, and give us grace that we may profit by Thy teaching, and serve Thee acceptably with reverence and godly fear, through Jesus Christ our Lord.-Amen.

LMIGHTY GOD, our heavenly Father, who knowest what things we have need of before we ask, and art able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, direct and aid us, we beseech Thee, in our supplications; that, though of ourselves we know not how to pray, and are not worthy that Thou shouldst grant our requests, we may ask and obtain whatsoever is expedient for us, according to Thy glorious riches in Christ Jesus; to whom, with Thee and with the Holy Spirit, be honour and praise for evermore.—Amen.

GOD, who hast given Thy Word as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, dispose us meekly to receive it, and enable us carefully to obey it, that, being upheld and guided in Thy ways, we may walk in holiness and in righteousness before

Thee all the days of our life, and finally come to Thine everlasting kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

LMIGHTY GOD, who inhabitest eternity,

but dwellest also with the broken and contrite spirit, incline Thine ear to the voice of our supplications, and pour out upon us the grace of Thy Holy Spirit, that, humbled for our sins, and trembling at Thy Word, we may be revived and comforted with Thy fellowship, and may render unto Thee acceptable worship; through Jesus Christ our Lord.-Amen.

VI.

LORD, without whom we can do nothing

as we ought, assist us in our supplications which we make to Thee in the name of Thy beloved Son, and enlighten our minds in the knowledge of Thy truth, that the words of our mouth, and the meditation of our heart, may be acceptable in Thy sight, O God, our strength and our Redeemer.-Amen.

O

GOD, by whose inspiration all Holy Scripture hath been written, grant that Thy Word may be profitable to us for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, so as to make us wise unto salvation, and thoroughly furnished unto all good works, through Jesus Christ our Lord.-Amen.

GOD, who hast taught us to approach Thee as children to a Father able and ready to help us, send forth the Spirit of Thy Son into our hearts, that we may draw near unto Thee with all holy reverence and confidence, and may obtain the petitions which we ask of Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord.-Amen.

LORD, who hast taught us that if men, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto their children, much more shall our Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him; enable us, with the confidence of Thy children, to spread out before Thee the desires of our hearts; and let it please Thee to supply all our need according to the fulness of Thy mercy in Christ Jesus, our Lord and only Mediator.-Amen.
