O ALMIGHTY God, Who art of great compassion, and long-suffering, and of Thine infinite mercies hast appointed repentance unto sinners that they may be saved, hear my prayer, and forgive me all my sins; for unto Thee, O Lord, do I desire to confess all the evil that I have done in thought, in word, and in deed; and to Thee, O Lord, would I turn with all my heart, that I may be saved in the mercies of Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself, it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. Therefore, O Lord, I beseech Thee make me know Thy way, and be Thou with me in my going out, and my coming in, and in all that I may lay my hand unto. Amen.

HOLY Jesus, Who early in the morning didst raise up Thyself from death to life for me, raise Thou me up, I most humbly beseech Thee, from the death of sin to the life of righteousness. Arise, O Thou Sun of righteousness, upon my darkened soul, and make me a child of light and of the day.

Let the light of Thy truth direct me, and Thy grace support me in the way to Light and life everlasting. Amen.

LORD Jesu, I most humbly commit myself unto Thee; do with me as seems best in Thine eyes; only give me, I humbly beseech Thee, a penitent and a patient spirit. Give me grace to follow Thee always, and to submit myself reverently to all who are placed over me; and keep me in Thy fear and love all the day long. Amen.

LORD, make my service acceptable unto Thee while I live, and my soul ready for Thee when I die. And I beseech Thee, O Lord Jesu Christ, by Thine agony and bloody sweat, Thy cross, and passion, and Thy most precious blood-shedding, have mercy on my poor soul, now and always, and especially at the hour of my death.

OUR Father, which art, &c.

The Lord bless me, and keep me: the Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon me, and give me peace, this day and for ever. Amen. Amen.

ON GOING FORTH FROM THE CHAMBER.

Shew me Thy ways, O Lord, and teach me Thy paths.

O give Thine angels charge over me, to keep me in all my ways.

Them that are meek Thou wilt guide in judgment; and such as are gentle, them wilt Thou learn Thy way. Oh, make me meek and gentle, and so guide me into all truth.

ON GOING TO THE CHAPEL.

I will go into Thy house, O Lord, in the multitude of Thy mercies; and in Thy fear will I worship towards Thy holy temple. Oh! how amiable are Thy dwellings, Thou Lord of hosts.

My soul hath a desire and longing, to enter into the courts of the Lord.

Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house; they will be always praising Thee.

Take away from me, I beseech Thee, O Lord, all my iniquities, that I may be purified in soul and body, and enter into the Holy of Holies.

PRAYERS ONE OR MORE OF WHICH MAY BE SAID PRIVATELY IN CHAPEL, BEFORE THE SERVICE.

LORD, I am now in Thy awful Presence, in the holy place of prayer: hear Thou the voice of my humble petitions, when I cry unto Thee; when I hold up my hands towards the mercy-seat of Thy holy Temple. Amen.

TAKE from us, I beseech Thee, O Lord, all

our iniquities, that with clean hands and pure hearts we may stand before Thee in Thy holy place, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

INCLINE mercifully Thine ear, O Lord, to the words of our prayer, and fill our hearts with the grace of Thy Holy Spirit, that, loving Thee with an eternal love, we may be accepted in these our supplications and praises, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O THOU, Whom Cherubim and Seraphim continually adore, the heavens and all the powers therein, open Thou our mouths,

that we may shew forth Thy praise, and tell out the greatness of Thy holy Name, for to Thee is due all glory, honour, and worship, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, throughout all ages. Amen.

LORD, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst

come unto me; neither in me hast Thou a fit place wherein to dwell; but, as Thou, O Lord, didst vouchsafe to be laid in the manger of brute beasts ;-as Thou didst not disdain to enter the house of Simon the leper;-as Thou didst not reject the woman that was a sinner like unto me, when she approached and touched Thee, nor abhor her profane and impure lips;-neither the thief on the cross, when he confessed Thee; even so vouchsafe to admit me also, a bruised, a wretched, and exceedingly sinful creature, to kneel at Thy feet and to speak unto Thee, and to enter into holy participation of Thy grace and blessing; O Lord, in mercy and pity, grant unto me these my petitions. Amen.

TAKE away from me all coldness, all wanderings of the eyes and of the thoughts;
