Let mouth, and heart, and flesh combine,
To herald forth our creed divine;

And love so wrap our mortal frame,
Others may catch the living flame.

This grace on Thy redeemed confer,
Father, co-equal Son;

And Holy Ghost, the Comforter,
Eternal Three in One. Amen.

Or this,

COME, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire,
And lighten with celestial fire;
Thou the anointing Spirit art,

Who dost Thy sevenfold gifts impart.

Thy blessed unction from above,
Is comfort, life, and fire of love:
Enable with perpetual light,
The dulness of our blinded sight.

Anoint and cheer our soiled face
With the abundance of Thy grace;
Keep far our foes; give peace at home,
Where Thou art guide no ill can come.

Teach us to know the Father, Son,
And Thee of both to be but One,
That through the ages all along,
This still may be our endless song,

Praise to Thy eternal merit,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

¶ Then shall be read the following text, or any other the Reader may appoint.

God is love, and whosoever dwelleth in love, dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Incline my heart, O God, to Thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

O turn away our eyes lest they behold vanity, and quicken Thou us in Thy way.

Let us pray.

Then all devoutly kneeling,

O ALMIGHTY God, Who about this hour didst instruct and replenish the hearts of Thy faithful servants by sending upon them the light of Thy Holy Spirit, grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, that we may both perceive and know what things we ought to do, and also

may have grace and power faithfully to fulfil the same; through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who was also at this hour contented to receive the bitter sentence of death for us, and now liveth and reigneth in the unity of the same blessed Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

WE beseech Thee, O Lord, that the Com

forter Who proceedeth from Thee may enlighten our minds, and according to Thy Son's promise lead us into all truth; through the same Thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Remove far from us, O Lord, thoughts that are without understanding, and inspire us with such as are wise, and good, and well pleasing in Thy sight. Amen. .

ALMIGHTY God, the fountain of all goodness, and the well-spring of all divine graces, Who hast vouchsafed to regenerate us, being born in sin, by water and the Holy Ghost, in the blessed laver of baptism, thereby receiving us into the number of Thy children and making us heirs of everlasting life,

in the communion of Thy glorious saints, strengthen us, we beseech Thee, O Lord, with that blessed Spirit of Thine, the ghostly Comforter, and daily increase in us Thy manifold gifts of grace, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and ghostly strength, the spirit of knowledge and true godliness; and fill us, O Lord, with the spirit of Thy holy fear, even through Him, who sent down the Spirit upon His Church, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Lord's name be praised from the rising up of the sun, to the going down of

the same.

The Lord be our keeper: the Lord be our defence on our right hand. The Lord preserve us from all evil, and set a watch over our souls: the Lord preserve our going out and our coming in, from this time forth for evermore. Amen.

MAY Thy blessing rest upon us, and Thy gracious Presence evermore abide with us. Amen.

The Sixth Hour.

(12 o'clock.)

OUR Father, which art in heaven, &c.

O THOU, Who at the sixth hour didst nail

the sins of the world to the same cross with Thyself,

Blot out the hand-writing of offences that is against us, and save us.

Open Thou our lips, O Lord.

And our mouth shall shew forth Thy praise.

O God, make speed to save us,
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory be to the Father, &c.

Then shall be sung the hymn following, or any other that the Reader may appoint.

O GOD, the Lord of place and time,
Who orderest all things prudently,
