THEATRE "PLATS" of three Old English Dramas: Battle of Alcazar (attributed to Peele), Frederick and Basilea, and the Dead Man's Fortune (the last two anonymous, and never printed), facsimiled from the rare originals, written on pasteboard for the use of the in-coming Actors, and containing their Names, imperial folio, half bound, 15s 6d

For Private Circulation, 1860 The original "Plats" of Old Plays are of extraordinary rarity: it is believed that not more than one or two others exist besides those here given in facsimile, and the last two of the above named Plays themselves are lost. The Plat of the third is remarkable, as containing the earliest notice of Burbage as an actor. That of the first is of interest as furnishing us with the names of some of the principal actors in Alleyn's company, HALSTED (C. A.) This exceedingly interesting and valuable County History was commenced by the late B. B. Woodward, F.S.A., formerly librarian to Her Majesty at Windsor Castle, and after his decease, was completed by the Rev. T. C. Wilks. The portion relating to the Isle of Wight was supplied by Mr. C. Lockhart.

The work contains in ample detail, the History, Antiquities, and Peculiarities of every Place of importance in the County, with numerous references to Family History, Anecdotes and Biographies of distinguished Natives and Residents, and accounts of Local Manners and Customs. It supplies what has long been wanted, a good and trustworthy History of this County, and is indispensable to every Topographical Library.

From their first issue to the present time, "HANSARD'S PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES" have enjoyed the highest possible reputation for the accuracy of their Reports, and for the skill and care with which the volumes are compiled. The best proof of their correctness is found in the fact that they have rendered unnecessary any Official Reports of Parliamentary Debates, and quotations from them are received in both Houses with the respect usually given to Official Documents. As a book of reference, "Hansard" is indispensable to every Member of Parliament, and to every public institution of importance. The PARLIAMENTARY HISTORY contains all that can be collected of the Legislative History of this country to the close of the XVIIIth Century.
