This copy differs in the imprint from that in Mr. Heber's Collection, Part IV. 2714. A very rare and curious work. A copy is also in Lambeth Palace Library. It is mentioned in Herbert's Ames, II. 690, and by Warton, III. 190.

Christopher Tye was musical preceptor to P. Edward. Dr. Burney in his Hist. of Musick, III. 10, speaks highly of him as being as great a musician as Europe could then boast ;" and Hawkins, III. 250,

quotes an old play by Rowley printed in 1613, in which Tye is brought on the stage with the greatest praise of his musick. See also Beloe's Anecdotes, vol. II.

"This curious and rare volume is a translation from the Spanish of Alberto Enriquez (see ante p. 229 a) 12mo. Brussellas, 1627. The lady, whose interesting escape from England to Flanders is here described, was the 2nd daughter of Rory O'Donnell, created Earl of Tyrconnel, 1603, who was attainted in 1613, and died at Rome in 1617 by Bridget, daughter of Henry, 12th Earl of Kildare, by Lady F. Howard, 2nd daughter of Ch. Earl of Nottingham."

This appears to be the first Edition, and is certainly of very great rarity.
